Ha ha. Price match at Myer? Good luck. I agree they usually pull the below cost rubbish.
I should add, the gift card is a good deal. It is the uncertain price match that is questionable.

depends on which model or sizes you want. Basically same as Apple Australia RRP. If you buy the cheapest iPad or iPad mini and get the $50 gift card will give you higher % of discount by simple calculation.
Yeah but will be tough to haggle with myer on an ipad but worth a shot for a good bargain
So presumably you cant put the $50 gift card towards the purchase of the initial IPAD right?
If you don't have to give back the gift card, then yes I suppose you could.. But I would assume they have some sort of measure to prevent this otherwise you could just keep collecting gift cards.

price match is too hard at Myer
I have to say, it is correct price match is hard in Myer, but i did had a price match on my ipad 3rd gen last year from Myer Chadstone, Melbourne + ipad mini from Myer Melb CBD
When i price matched with Myer ipad mini, they told me, i cant price match ipad mini as they were still new. I told them, it is their policy in Myer, if the pricematch price is still above their cost, i am eligible for the pricematch, and he ended up giving me the pricematch
I believe for apple products, those resellers almost never sell the price below their cost price, due to the low profit margin, therefore, chance to get the price match in Myer is 99% [from my point of view]
I have had Myer turn down price matches with Harvey Norman, JB HiFi and Officeworks. (If I did not have a voucher or I would not have bothered)
Each time they say below their cost, but they never say what their cost is. Personally, I think they are deliberately shifty.
At the best of times. There's a good chance they'll say it isn't a 1:1 match if you are expecting a gift card to also be included.
Worth a go, and maybe you can get a few dollars off but I wouldn't bank on anything too drastic. Might improve your chances if you buy some accessories as well.
They have price match bigW (which is usually the lower price). They wont price match those 5% discount from Target tho.

Why wouldn't you buy from David Jones instead - they have 10% of all Apple products, no exceptions

Because of Myer gift cards, you get them as prizes, from work, as a birthday/christmas present, and sometimes buy them yourself for the 10% bonus. Sometimes you can accumulate a number of these gift cards that Myer becomes a viable place to buy an iPad and this $50 deal looks good, and is very attractive price, if you have the 10% bonus and Myerone card.
Im waiting for iPad 5, not too long to wait and may have a price fall on the realease of the new model.

I have had good success with getting prices matched at Myer - once you know who to talk to, the process is easy and straight-forward…
but Myer has the "below cost" bullsh*t when you ask for a price match.
