I tried to replace the HDD with a new SSD in my 6-year old laptop and now I found out my internal CD/DVD is not working. I don't think the bios can be changed to boot from an external usb DVD drive. Now I am stuck. Is there any method to install Windows 7 on this new SSD without an internal DVD drive? Any idea will be appreciated.
Installing Windows 7 without internal DVD drive ... Problem resolved. Thanks.

Thanks. I was able to configure the bios to boot from removable device and I could boot from the external usb dvd drive now.
It is possible to boot from an external optical drive. just plug it to your laptop and it will detect it.
Another way is to use a bootable usb or "copy" your existing hdd to the new ssd.
