For more precise information about where we deliver, please visit http://www.meatcart.com.au and enter your suburb/post code in our delivery checker on the home page. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q - How do Meatcart store prices compare?
A - Almost all of our products work out to be cheaper than regular supermarket pricing. We check pricing regularly to ensure we’re competitive.

Q - What are the quality standards of Meatcart products?
A - Every single product from Meatcart is export quality and produced under export conditions, meaning the quality standards for production are far higher than domestic quality standards. This means that when you order from Meatcart, you are receiving some of the highest quality meat produced in Australia, and at the same time paying prices which are almost always lower than supermarket regular pricing.

Q – Is Meatcart meat, better than most other meat?
A – In a word, yes. The beef (for example) found in supermarkets can be sourced from animals that range in age up to 7-8 years old. All Meatcart beef is derived from animals no older than 18 months. This understandably results in a far better quality meal.
While many bargain butchers will frequently sell meat which is at or past it’s ‘best before’ date, our product is produced to order, and is as fresh as possible.

Q – Why is GST only applied to the delivery and not the product itself?
A – GST does not apply to food, so there’s no requirement to charge for that, but there is a requirement to charge GST on delivery because it is a service.

Slow roasted pork belly, who would have thought?

    My arteries say no thanks…

    • +6

But your taste buds say yes!

      • The constant battle of Good vs Evil in my head…

        • You have arteries in your head?

        • +1

          You don't?

(nerd: there are arteries and veins everywhere there is blood flow… :P)

        • +4

Is it possible to neg one's self?

          EDIT: No, it's not.

        • You don't?

with the level of "intelligence" some humans ive met exhibit…… it would not surprise me if arteries to the brain was an optional extra……

  • +3

Just pust your delivery at $7.15, don't waste consumer's time with breaking it down to $6.50 PLUS GST.

    • -5

Hi voteoften - We have done that in the past, however some commented that it should be more clear about delivery and GST etc. So we have aimed to be as clear as possible from that point forward.

      • +5

You can be clear by stating that delivery is $7.15 and that it INCLUDES GST. Not $6.50 PLUS GST.

    • +8

      $6.50 PLUS GST.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal not to advertise the GST inclusive price if selling domestically…

      edit :

Yep… It's illegal to say 'Plus GST'

      http://hwlebsworth.ensoconsultancy.com.au/trade_practices_fe…

•Under new amendments passed by Parliament, advertised prices and quotes for most products will need to be “all inclusive” from May this year.

      Penalties

Penalties for breach of section 53C are severe. Fines of up to $1.1 million per offence may be imposed.

      Wow, that's a lot of pork belly…

      • +2

Yeah. I didn't want to get into the whole illegality thing. They can say that crap if they are selling to businesses. That is how they get around it.

It's just dodgy and wrong. The consumer just wants to know what they are paying.

Maybe, due to illegality, the post should be removed?

      • -3

Hey jv - That's a good resource, thanks for posting. I noticed this paragraph:
Quoting GST exclusive prices will be illegal unless the GST inclusive price is also quoted just as prominently.
I imagine that applies to what was in the original title "$6.50 + GST ($7.15)"

        • +3

Your getting around the fact that saying $6.50+GST is misleading. Just say $7.15 delivery like everyone else does.

        • Might want to update your website similarly. Would be great if you could deliver to NSW too! Still +ve to me cause I would of got it and some sausages

        • +1

That doesn't apply on your website…
"Brisbane Metro - Deliveries are made every weekday, excluding Monday. Orders will be delivered 2 business days after the order is placed. So, for example, if you place your order on a Saturday it will be delivered on Tuesday. If you place your order on a Wednesday, it will be delivered on Friday. – $6.50"

Not $6.50. :P No mention of the GST.

  • I'm not sure I understand the bit about extra $10 off… when does that apply?

    • Hi kwchaz - If you enter the code during checkout, you can get a $10 discount on items purchased.

      • That doesn't apply to the already discounted $6 pork belly, yes? :P

EDIT: Actually I get the error the coupon code is not valid…

        • Sorry about that, the expiry date on that coupon was incorrect, it has been corrected so it should work fine now.

        • Yes the coupon code applies to anything you purchase regardless if it's on special or not.

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmm Bacon…..

  • Wasn't this pork belly $6 per 500grams just a few minutes ago?

Also, why not just quote the per kilo price? That is how people compare prices.

    • Woops, have corrected that, tried to correct a small error but messed the price up.

    • Looks like they only sell it in 500g packs. DAMN I am hungry =F

  • Great…thanks a lot….now I must have roast pork for dinner!

  • Yumm… tempted.. recently been perfected the recipe for chinese roast pork but found that generally pork belly that I buy from my local butcher to be too fatty. The fat to meat ratio is about 70% fat, 30% meat. I feel guilty for feeding it to my family, so I stopped until I can find a healthier piece of pork belly. What is the approximate fat/meat ratio of your meat, rep?

    • Is there such a thing as healthy pork belly ?

    • Keen to know the ratio too, and whether it's relatively consistent or varies widely.

  • Ignoring the sketchy bit about GST, this is a pretty good deal if you buy 1kg… Right now that sells for ~$11/kg in supermarkets (might be different at your local butcher), and after discount, 1kg is $9.15.
But it would be AWESOME if you allowed pickup…? :D

  • price is good, website credit card payment doesn't seem to be very secure.
If you can accept PayPal/Google Checkout that might be better?

    • Payments are handled via eWay, there are no issues with the security of payments.

    • for the belly pic
  • on the user friendly part of the website, at the homepage, yes I logged in,
I can't find anywhere I can check my account details or previous orders.

While placing the order, it doesn't let me double check my shipping address etc while I click the 'place order' button.

Service is good, I put my email address as stree address then a lovely lady just called me after 5 minutes to correct that.

I hope the belly is good on user friendly

  • God deal. Only comment is your website is a bit confusing on the phone and the long lead time before delivery. Same day or next would be nice :)
