  • Could anyone comment on iherbs reputation?
Are their supplements any better than local made brands like swisse or Blackmores?

    • They are okay. However they are currently several months behind on replying to emails at the moment, so don't count on any customer service unless you want to wake up very early and do live chat (might get through).

I wouldn't say the product quality is superior to what we can get in Australia. People mainly buy for the cheaper prices and large variety. But with the new low in the Australian dollar and regular half price deals at Chemist Warehouse (and other retailers), maybe it's not as good as it used to be.

Oh and don't believe the reviews on iHerb, people are full of hot air.

iHerb are absolutely fantastic - very fast shipping with Global Priority and prices that can’t be touched locally. I’ve bought a lot of USA brand vitamins/supplements and all work as expected despite being 1/3rd the cost. My (low) Vitamin D-3 levels doubled using one of the cheapest D-3 brands they have.

US has reasonably strict rules on what claims can be made etc without being verified by the FDA, so you’re not likely to find too much snake oil for sale.

IMO, equal to or better than local brands.

Can't vouch for the supplements as I buy mainly beauty and health products there, like soaps/oils/creams/skincare/deodorant/insect repellants etc, but the parcels generally always come quick, packaged good (ie. spillable items are ziplocked bagged) and the prices are so much cheaper. My only gripe is that good products get discontinued, but I guess that lies with the manufacturer.

I don't think this is the good stuff that inspired the two Steves.

      • it certainly ain't whitecastle either

    • there they go, two wowsers so far.

  • Tried to buy some chia seeds, they say prohibited item won't ship to Aus.

    Noticed these look cheap www.iherb.com/Healthy-Origins-Vitamin-D3-5-000-IU-360-Softge…

  • Oh wow. Do they sell any products that aren't completely disproven/pseudoscientific & not completely useless?

    • Yeah, everything except the supplements.

    • Yeah, everything except the food.

darn it, just put in an large oder last month! and now they have the VIP thing…

If you are into health stuff, anything of real value is much cheaper compare to what you can buy in OZ just do a something comparison to health shop here with such things as: cold pressed coconut oil or (bee pollen or chai seed). I buy those from vitacost since iherb won't ship it.

    • VIP is for people who don't smell so much perhaps?

  • Some product sugestions based on my previous purchase:

Face scrub http://www.iherb.com/Queen-Helene-Mint-Julep-Natural-Facial-… $3.88 AUD. It's cheaper and larger than the getting St Ives peach scrub from Woolies

    Strawberry tea http://www.iherb.com/St-Dalfour-Organic-Strawberry-Tea-25-Te… smells great.

This deodorant surprisingly works well (so far, however summer yet to come) http://www.iherb.com/Thai-Deodorant-Stone-Crystal-Deodorant-…

      Also:

Dr Mcdougall's instant meals - no MSG or artificial stuff - great for camping, late night snacks, quick lunch, etc.

Dandies marshmallows - don't contain gelatine like most others - great if you don't care for stewed ground up cattle or pigs in your lollies.

      • Ohh nice suggestions. I'll probably buy some on my next order

  • would buy from them
    but
vitacost has better prices on their own band
though herb has cheaper freight costs
so have never bought in the end
