HD4000 is capable of playing Sims.
If you buy a Core i5 Ivy Bridge lappie, check and see if it has at least HD4000 Intel graphics. It won't be uber fast, but at 1366 x 768 resolutions (the res at which most laptop run at) it's enough for Sims.
That makes it easier then… So any 3rd Gen i3 should do it? Do i3 run HD4000 or HD2500? Or do I need an i5?
What's the actual budget? if he can spend up to $600 then grab

If you stick with 720p resolution, almost any graphics card will do.
