Student flights is owned by flight center? Correct me if I'm wrong.
That's right. SF offer $1500 credit FC fly you free if they can't beat your found fare.
Beating by $1 would be there preferred.
I took flight centre up on this offer. They beat it by $1 and gave me a $50 flight centre voucher.
I tried to use the $50 on hotels but it was always cheaper online than what they could do.
I have been told that they have stopped giving the $50 flight centre voucher for price beat
They always just beat the price if it fits within their terms and conditions. They are permitted to sell under their cost price if need be. I used to work for Flight Centre. To be honest, you should probably just book directly with the airline and don't bother with the pricebeat unless it is to avoid booking with an online 3rd party like Expedia or Webjet.
SF pricebeat my written fare (thanks donga100) by $1 on Saturday though price had moved up during the day-hence thinking $1500 would be coming my way.
Holding fare for me till tomorrow - today he found 2nd date option, and held that too.
Have a choice to make tomorrow. Very helpful travel agent with additional info re hotels as he lived at destination.(LA)
+1 for travel agents on this occasion
i imagine there is lots of conditions in the fine print that lets them worm their way out. you need to start by actually reading the terms & conditions.
if you are travelling to asia and the itinerary is not complex (eg a simple return flight) then doing the booking yourself online on one of the budget asian airlines will probably be cheapest.
