skyscanner.ca would be my guess or hipmunk.com maybe
$1750 at statravel.com.au with Delta is the best you'll get - elsewhere you're looking at around 2k
If you're not in a hurry to head to Toronto, a stopover holiday in New York could be good:
Sample:
Sydney to Los Angeles UA 840 28 July
Los Angeles to New York JFK UA 867 28 July
New York JFK to San Francisco UA 514 16 October
San Francisco to Sydney UA 863 16 October
Price: $1560
Newark to Toronto City PD 126 30 July
Toronto City to Newark PD 131 14 October
Price: $260 (the price stays the same for almost any date combination)
Grand total: $1560 + $260 = $1820
You'll have to make two separate bookings though, so that means same day transfers straight to Toronto (and back) is almost impossible (too risky if there are delays, etc) and luggage rules will be different for the bookings.
United is also no where near as comfortable as Delta/Virgin for transpacific flights, but Porter is generally highly regarded. Porter also has the advantage of flying to Toronto City Airport rather than the larger and much further Toronto Pearson.
What website did you find these prices?
I am actually thinking of heading over to Vegas / New york before heading over.
I'm moving to Canada on the 2nd of July woot woot! Got 1 way flights form syd to Vancouver for $918.
Moving? Congrats, you'll like it there.
Hope so!
wow moving there?
apparently its very similar to Australia just COLD!
Yeah that's what I've heard and thanks to the commonwealth it's pretty easy to get a visa too! I'm excited and freaked out at the same time
