Yeah, I think he's saying you put in incorrect credit card details, and a US address.. Then a $5 coupon comes out of no-where and you use that..?

No. The deal is you can subscribe to a select 3 magazines for $5/month and they give you the first month free. Since you aren't buying one copy and are subscribing, you also need to enter your credit card details. You can get the $5 voucher from another post on Ozbargain and you use that for the second month. So you get the first month free, second month is $5 which you use the voucher and the third month presumably gets cancelled as they can't charge your credit card as it is incorrect. However, normally they validate the card as soon as you enter it (well other stores do anyway).
If you go to Z-Pass FAQ, http://imgs.zinio.com/faq/ZPASS.html you'll see that you can't use regular Zinio credits or vouchers to pay for a Z-Pass subscription. Also, not all Zinio mags are available.
