A good deal on a camera that was priced about 3x its current price when new.
Good for those with Micro Four Thirds lenses, or you can always buy one with the cam while buying the body, of course.

With the discounted Panasonic DMC-G3 finally selling out in some major stores, the Panasonic DMC-GX1 is a good alternative for those who want a slightly smaller camera (without viewfinder and articulating LCD), but that has a more unique fuller metal build and extra direct access button or two and the undocumented feature of allowing the flash to be pulled back with the finger so it can be bounced off the ceiling for far more natural-looking flash photos. The body is also MADE IN JAPAN with a metal build, front and back.

With the Australian dollar buying approximately 96 US cents as I write this, expect to pay a little more when converted. It's the lowest price I've ever seen on the body, regardless.

As of this writing, my preferred vendor, B&H (www.bhphotovideo.com), is selling the body for $239. I suppose I could ask them for a price-match (and I would definitely do that since I dislike Adorama), but I am way over my head in camera gear as it is.

Buying 2 bodies makes the postage $67.30 USD; only slightly more than sending one body out. I hope somebody finds this bargain useful.

Enjoy.

  • will get this if i dont have one dslr and one compact. with this you dont need to own 2 cameras

    • +1

Well you need to buy a viewfinder and a lens before you start thinking about replacing anything.

      • yes more lenses but interm of build/size, this one sits between dslr and compact so i thought i will be happy just with this

      • Lens maybe, viewfinder not necessarily as it has live view.

  • I wonder if more orders at once will make it a worthy purchase with delivery

    • 3 units = $88 USD postage to Oz.
      Play with their cart.

      • Now we just need like 10 people to buy it, bulk order to one location, then it'll be about $8 per person and another $8 to ship it out locally to each person :p

        • Probably not worth the effort for this particular body, the sensor is pretty old.

        • Buy any more than 5+ then you'll have to pay 10% GST through customs. Not wise.

  • Amazon also selling these for 199. So shipping maybe cheaper.

Price of lenses are fairly steep though.

      same seller though…

  • Anywhere to score a bargain on the lens?

  • Looks like Adorama have jacked it up to $249 as I write this.
    Marking deal as expired.

  • Price is back at USD $199 as I write this.
