iRobot Vacuum Cleaning Robot

Hi,
I have been interested in the Roomba iRobot Vacuum Cleaning Robot and was wondering if these are worth the price?
If so, what model is best for value and where is the best place to get one?

Thanks.

Think mine is a 537. Best money I ever spent. Big W was running a special every second month or so, but don't seem to stock it anymore. I see them on an infomercial channel on Foxtel but haven't checked the price etc. You just need to be fairly pedantic about cleaning the wheels and brushes as these are the man parts that cark it.

Just checked the one on Foxtel and thy don't even tell you the price. I looks like the top of the range one. 1800 522 522

  • Thanks. I wonder if ordering the iRobot 770 overseas (US or Euro) would be risky giving its not local warrantee?

I have the 530, & it's ok. However, I just found the Sabco Robosweep, & got this. Love it!

The benefit of having the motor inside the ball-separate to the dusting cloth- is no hairs tangling inside the machine. Simply pull the dust off the cloth to re-use, or even throw away. $44.50 @ Bunnings.

  • Thanks for the link. How does it compare to the 530?
Does it collect half as much dust?

  • Looks OK, but it won't do carpet. I still love the look of my tiles after the roomba has done them.

    • Exactly. Robosweep is best for smooth surfaces like wooden floors.

As always, I buy all can from Costco because of their lifetime warranty. I bough a couple of Roomba 530's two years ago and they are fantastic. Collect fine dust and changes mode to do carpet when it senses it. Gets tonnes of hair out of the carpet (I've got a wife and daughters so lots of long hair).

Costco don't have the 530 anymore but have a black model that looks to be similar in features but with an improved dust collection system. Just give the house a good going over with a regular vac first then the Roomba does a good maintenance every three days or so. I've used it after I've used a Dyson on a rug and it got even more dirt out. The Dyson is amazing but the Roomba does a pretty close job.

Bought this at Godfreys for $99 when they had a sale on, its been fantastic. Great starter robot before getting the expensive brands and does a great job. Not quite as smart as the higher priced but it covers my whole house without much problem.

Has the virtual wall, remote control and docking/charge station.

Forgot to say, the Costco Roomba is around $500. I'll check price when I go in today and get a photo or two.

Damn, I can't post pics not that I've ever tried before. Roomba 630 $499.99 at Costco.

      • Thanks! Not a bad price :)

And if it ever breaks they'll refund your purchase price.

  • Bought iroomba 530 in October last year. One of best things I have bought. It was around $360-$370 from bigw on special. Haven't seen it on sale since then. Been wanting to buy one for my parents.

    • OK. Let us know on OzB when you see another sale :-)

      • Brand Developers Aust Pty Ltd took over the distribution of Roomba at the end of last year - which is why they are now so often on those tv advert shows.

BigW, Hardly Normal etc all had big sales getting rid of the Roomba's from the previous distributor then.

I doubt you will see deals as good in Australia for a while.

  • Interested too.

  • and me
