Not that I desperately need a new kettle, my old one is perfectly fine. Just noticed that there is some progress in kettles-making - fancy buttons and all that presets.

The next one on static ice is above $120. HN show it at $104 but on theirs website it's $129 and minus cash back and no free delivery. Sneaky.

  • Good price but beware, cash back can take a while with Breville.

    • I recently did a few cash backs. Breville was the quickest. It took less than two weeks.

This is a great kettle. I had this for two weeks now.

why spend hundred bucks on a kettle? Kmart $5 one does the job just fine

It's a status symbol. Like driving a BMW or using Eneloop-branded rechargeable batteries.

      You clearly don't understand.

        "or using Eneloop-branded rechargeable batteries."
lol, I hadnt thought of those as a status symbol!

But those K-mart kettles aren't smart like this one, only you are for buying it :-)

The opposite applies to this kettle. (tssssssss… someone got burnt!)

Well well, look at Mr Moneybags over here with his five dollar unitasker.

I heat my tea water up by rubbing two sticks together in a puddle.

I want a smart kettle that can cool water as fast as it can heat it.

My folks have one of these. The buttons are for different temperatures, like 75 degrees, 80, 85 etc..

I wondered what the point of it was. I decided not to ask them if they ever use those functions.

Different teas taste better when brewed at certain temps.

      • Exactly that. I have different types of teas and wanted to test this hypothesis about different brewing temperatures. Technically, thermometer would do better, but convenience of automatic temperature control also tempting.

I have one, that I bought for Mrs Anderson just to earn brownie points for buying her something fancy… :)

I recently got the Sunbeam KE7500S on recommendation from CHOICE due to extremely quiet and quick boil times. All the rest mattered zilch, though it's an awesome kettle. Paid $67.

  • i wish i could afford this smart kettle but i'm stuck with my dumb kettle :(

I'm going to hold out for the Android model, txt kettle "I'll be home in 5 minutes, BOIL"

I'm afraid of the phone freezing or bugging out. Then I'll come home to my electricity off, my house burnt down, and my water still cold.

  • I wanted to buy a smart kettle last month because of the diff temp settings. Was looking at this model but ended up getting this Cuisinart one for about $110
    http://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/products/cuisinart/cuisinart…

I went for the cuisinart one cuz it had great reviews online and most importantly comes with 3 years warranty!

    • Also 've been looking at Cuisinart. Saw it at Costco Auburn for $107 last Sat. I think they are petty much the same. I like Cuisinart's smaller footprint.
