  Last year I picked up a 17" dell laptop for $799. I have been looking for another one and the "good" deals just seems to be missing.

  they are - I purchased an Inspiron 1318 for $1045 (originally $1099) about 1-2 months ago. That same laptop now costs $1399, that's +$300

  Not that i'm defending pump then dump prices, but also remember the AUD$ has crashed out over the past 9 months, meaning our dollar buys about 30% less than it used to, this would certainly contribute to the lack of super deals Dell are offering at the moment.

  The deal was 15% across the range last week.I think i'll hang off until blu-ray ROMs get included.

  Prices will drop soon when the rest of the world realizes the U.S. is bankrupt.

  I got my 1525 for $600 last year, I miss the 20% deals without the minimum spend.
  Still a discounted bargain none the less, can't really expect much more with the way the economy is at the moment.
