Anyone know if you can "refresh" giftcards by buying new ones and paying for them with existing giftcards?
Also can this be done at self checkout?

Yes you can, just as long as it is not an essentials card you are paying with as these cannot be used to purchase gift cards. The attendant will need to come over to activate the new gift card.
They probably wouldnt notice you're paying with another gift card.
I tried to do this exact thing the other day, I did it at big w
Self service doesn't allow you to buy gift cards (well at least at big w in townsville) but I went through a register and told the lady I was paying with a gift card and had no issue at all :)
I used up frequent flyer points to get $100 big w gift card ( best value) and then bought a $100 Myer gift card from big w, then a $100 Coles gift card from Myer :)what for?
i know some big w have signs on self checkouts saying giftcard purchase are not available. this might apply to all big w self checkouts. should be something similar at woolies.
I'm a self serve attendant for woolworths, my store has the newest self serve registers and they do allow gift card transactions. It does however require assistance from the attendant.
i just bought one yesterday, the attendant has to activiate it.
Nice migration Woolies—->Coles
There is only one way to find out. It seems plausible. The self serve attendant may have to authorize it though.
