1200

Nearly $110 from Amazon including shipping and $120 from The Book Depository.

Available online and in-store. Seems to be a flipping excellent deal for this mammoth book!

UPDATE: Have just got home and cracked this bad boy open. Holy moly this thing is extensive. Not only is it a fully illustrated and beautifully published episode guide of the first 20 years of The Simpsons. But it also describes every couch gag, use of the word "D'oh!", every use of the phrase "Mmmmm… [something]", every Itchy and Scratchy episode, every song + lyrics and the list goes on. It's amazing.

This is basically a compilation of the previous 4 episode volumes that covered seasons 1-14.

    Simpsons World encompasses 20 seasons, and incorporates, corrects and vastly expands upon the four prior volumes which were as follows;

    • Seasons 01 - 08: The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family
    • Seasons 09 - 10: The Simpsons Forever! A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family Continued
    • Seasons 11 - 12: The Simpsons Beyond Forever! A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family… Still Continued
    • Seasons 13 - 14: The Simpsons One Step Beyond Forever! A Complete Guide to Seasons 13 and 14

This book covers s1-20 adding (s15-20) to the previous episode guides and was published in October 2010.

Although they have tried to fix and update the errors found in the previous volumes there are still some in this book the first printing. Which have been documented on the following web site.
    http://www.snpp.com/guides/sw.html

I think that the 20 or so minor errors/omissions is perfectly within the margin of error for a publication of this breadth. As I mentioned in my update I'm flabbergasted at how much info this book contains. Oh and I didn't neg you by the way :)

love it! bought one immediately. thanks!

    Brilliant, thanks OP!

Back when QBD was at Westfield Parramatta I bought five copies of this for Christmas presents and it was $29 a copy. Carrying them all the way back to the car was a right-royal PITA but I made a number of friends very happy!

Even at $40 it's an incredible bargain. Beautifully presented and tons of info… get it!

  • +8

Hrm I need a Futurama one of these.

    • that would be so good!

  • +1

I have this book, IT IS BIG. If you're into The Simpsons, then it's an amazing bargain at $39 I think I paid more than double that and I thought that was cheap.

  • +2

Instant buy. Mad simpsons fan birthday coming up.

    Even better deal here: http://www.theworks.co.uk/p/general/the-simpsons---simpsons-…

    Add this:
    http://www.theworks.co.uk/p/rulers/q-connect-ruler-15cm-clea…

Add code (£5 off Orders over £15): TWMAY5

    Comes to £19.47 (~$31AUD)

    • Bought, Many thanks! Plus a ruler/measuring tape…actually what was it, I just blindly added it…

      • +3

Just the cheapest thing I could find to bring the total to over £15 to qualify for the code. I'm sure you can find a use for that ruler :)

    • +3

Damn you good find, already bought at $40.. Whether it's worth trying to cancel or just order one from each place, <MOD Removed foul language>

      • +2

Look on the bright side, you are buying from an Australian company, supporting Aussie businesses :) ~ that's one way to see the positive out of this (I also bought it at $40 - same boat)

    • any idea how long delivery takes mate?

    • great find, I added a 50p union jack pen instead though!

    • +1

Thanks for the heads up! I added Simpsons comic book to mine for £1.99 http://www.theworks.co.uk/p/christmas-books/the-simpsons-hol…

    • +1

Thanks, just bought 2 more. Already bought one from the Aussie retailer for myself, but at this price I will give some away as pressies. 2 of them together came to £34. Bargain!

      • Thanks - good idea. Did the same.

    • Great find. I also bought an extra 2 from here. Also if you have a 28 degrees mastercard you avoid overseas charges and it offers a better conversion rate than paypal, £34 comes to about $53 aud which is about $26-$27 aud per book

    • Great deal! Many thanks. Ordered with my 28 deg MC. £19.30 posted which is ~ $30.33.

    • Does anyone know the rough delivery times to Australia and/or whether postage insurance/ tracking is provided? I may have missed it but looking through the terms and conditions couldn't find it, and they are pretty cagey about liability.

    • I placed an order for two copies of this from The Works on Sunday.

Just got an email that my order has been cancelled due to "incorrect options on their website over the weekend".

I've gone back and looked at the page for the book and notice that they've increased shipping costs for the book to £20.00.

      • +1

I ordered mine on Saturday and it hasn't been cancelled. I checked three other items (even a ruler weighing less than 50 grams) and they jacked it up to 20 pounds across all items. I didn't think 8 pounds was too good to be true since UK post is much much cheaper than Australia Post to buy from overseas. I did consider it was a heavy item though so thought it possibly should be around 10 pounds but 20 pounds is just unfeasible for me, it's more than the price of the book. Maybe on reflection the postage rate was exceedingly good, but theworks seems like a large company so I don't know what kind of commercial international shipping arrangements they have. Eight pounds is a fair amount in the UK so didn't at all suspect something was wrong. The options weren't 'incorrect' they are just slack in not adjusting their shipping options to reflect international shipping costs (instead having blanket cost for int. delivery across all items, and seemingly, nations) so when they get hit with hundred + orders the system breaks down. As people are ordering multiple copies for the one book with flat cost of shipping profits are bound to get eaten away (as postage becomes more expensive for them, the profit per book gets eaten away) so instead of honouring their sale they just decide to cancel all orders and more than double the postage rate. Even after money has been deducted from accounts. This is poor commercial behaviour, even if it means loss-sustaining the company should honour the orders and I hope many users submit complaints.

        http://www.theworks.co.uk/p/rulers/flexible-curve-ruler/5052…

EDIT: cancelled yet* maybe they are going through the orders newest to oldest cancelling them.

        • +1

Mine was cancelled as well. My 28 degrees card was charged, hope a refund comes through soon.

        • +1

I got the cancellation email aswell, not happy at all. I only ordered one copy of the simpsons book, then I went through the science books and ordered a few more astronomy books and things, order came to about 42 pounds, and they just cancelled the whole lot with that bullcrap 'incorrect options' excuse. Really really unprofessional, I have replied to the sender and to enquiries with a polite but formal complaint and I will take this as far as I can, I want the books I paid for! I sent a cancellation request to QBD after I ordered everything from the works so it's possible I will end up with nothing after all this!!

        • Mine cancelled as well.

  • +2

For those who want to actually watch some episodes online for free: http://http://wtso.net/ !

  • Awesome. Got one! Thanks!

  • Bought the Australian copy. Free postage ;) sure it is a little more than uk but won't take long to receive

  • Thanks OP

Got I one from QBD and very happy

Thanks again for a good post

  • Bought from Australia as well not that big a price difference to go overseas for.

  • Great find, bought myself a copy. Thanks Op!

  • Thank you OP

  • Bought this from theworks.co.uk with horrible histories 20 book set (http://www.theworks.co.uk/p/horror/horrible-histories-blood-…) and the unauth history of The Simpsons (http://www.theworks.co.uk/p/television/the-simpsons:-an-unce…). Pretty good for $60-65 delivered.

  • are there any other good deals on "theworks.co.uk"?

  • -1

    .

  • Still available in store. I just picked up a copy today.

  • Oh for crying out loud! They deleted my order without reason. And they've since jacked up the price!

Terrible service. This is truly shocking. And now I've missed the QBD special.

  • +1

There are few things in the retail world that frustrate me more than legitimate orders being cancelled! 50 pounds worth of books I was looking forward to receiving cancelled with no explanation. Only one simpsons book in the order, wasn't greedy, actually took the time to peruse the rest of their site and buy other things. Wasted half my friday night on them!

    • Same thing happened to me as well. Is there anything we can do for international orders? Is there somewhere we can report on them? Not only we missed out on QBD, I was charge an conversion fee from the CC as well.

      • I haven't had my order cancelled, yet, but it does say it's "submitted" only… I have noticed on the invoice that: Delivery Type
        International Delivery - £20.00

  • Does this mean that QBD doesn't have any more of these? Or does it mean that they do, but the prices aren't as cheap any more?

My order got cancelled from theworks sigh =S

  • got my order cancelled as well from theworks.

  • mine cancelled as well

    their reasoning:

"I sincerely apologise for this matter, unfortunately we are unable to dispatch your order.

The reason for this being due to incorrect options on our website over the weekend."

what options? i am assuming shipping was too cheap for this massive book

  • The charge was confirmed on my account yesterday, I was thinking it would slide off 'pending' as the merchant wouldn't collect the money (as they would have no intention on shipping me the goods - as other users have reported from ordering) funnily enough instead of the payment sliding off my account it was collected by the seller yesterday (days after people started getting their payments pushed back) so they have my money accruing minimal interest but they still have my money with no apparent intention of shipping me the goods. I don't understand. I think the process is horrible (submitting an order and waiting days for it to be 'confirmed' on their system, with them taking the money in the meantime without confirming your order) and the way they have dealt with customers abysmal.

    • Checked my email

      "Merchant's cart ID: 5202234

      At: 18/May/2013 11:35:55
      has been refunded in full

Please contact the merchant at [email protected] should you have any queries regarding this refund.

The transaction id for this refund is: 2597624120
      Generated at: 22/May/2013 14:40:19"

Why did it go from pending to confirmed payments in my account this morning after this email was sent? (I checked around 12:30am this morning and it was still 'pending') Are they going to give some false excuse like 'it has to be confirmed to be refunded' that's just crap because payments which are held as pending do not have to be confirmed/collected by the merchant if the merchant has no intention of honouring the transaction.

As for the payment, it has not been 'refunded' there are no signs on my end at least that any money has been given back. I understand once payments have been confirmed money can take some time to be sent back due to the banks. I will wait another few days before emailing again, the situation is ridiculous though.

EDIT: I used to sell games on eBay and had the flat cost 'all shipping' option included around four-five years ago. Some auction winners lived overseas in the US (I didn't think O/S buyers could bid at first, then thought the cost would be adjusted for their overseas location once the auctions were over) and I made $15-20 losses on the shipping but I still honoured each sale. I have sold some items since then (books, large cardboarded games like Skylanders) and sadly underestimate the AusPost cost (don't get me started about AustPost once I had to send a 2TB HDD that was DOA ordered from Amazon back and since return shipping wasn't covered had to pay over $50 - half the cost of the external drive, shipping was about $11 from the US. Return over $50. They probably have some convoluted justification of having to make their money from shipping out to subsidise incoming packages. I don't understand how that works.) most of the time (usually making losses between $5-10 on shipping). No 'incorrect options available' excuse for me. 'TheWorks' what stooges. I just re-ordered to see what they will do now.

      • An unprofessional lot of douchebags they are.

Got the standard cut n paste refund message after i sent the payment last week and 0 replies to my 5 messages

If I were large company i would absorb the loss for the mistake (i've had to do it on Ebay for years), or if the refund is necessary ofter some sort of compensation.

        • Yup…..online store that has no idea how to run a business

  • Anyone receive their copy from QBD? Placed the order on Friday 17th. Still nothing at home. Just want to confirm it hasn't been stolen / lost?

    Cheers.

    • Hi mate

Got my order from qbd today

The wife says it wasnt delievered by aus post or a courier and it was a normal car lol and a lady left the parcel at the door and ran back to her car and took off

Looks like they have some staff members dropping off these orders lol

Was at fountain gate this week and the qbd store had tons of these sets

Nice compact set…a bit heavy but nit that large at all

  • Your order no 229XXX has now been fully dispatched. Please find below the items that have been dispatched on the 20/05/2013 to you. ^_^

Hopefully I should get it today.

    • From the works or QBD? If the works, what else did you order?

      • from QBD

  • Lucky I ordered one copy from qbd! Recd today….ordered 2 from the works but order got canceled lol

Wish I picked some more up from qbd when at fountain gate :)

Also picked up 2 of the $9.99 each 2013 UBD melbourne street directory

Good buy for the car for those who want a melways but dont want to pay $30+

  • The Works sucks.

I ordered last week this Simpsons book and other books. Delivery cost 8.xx pounds and applied TWMAY5 code, total was 42 pounds(~AU$72).

Received email yesterday from The Works, refund to my credit card.
I sent them email they said the options over the weekend was wrong so cancelled my order.

I tried to order 5 minutes ago and found out the code TWMAY5 did not work and the delivery cost is 20 pounds.

    • Try 'XP10' or 'MA10', have you got the refund yet? I got the email telling me they have refunded but it isn't back in my account yet.

    • The Works cancelled my entire order. So I was surprised to receive a couple of items from them this week which I ordered at the same time as The Simpsons book. Their systems must be pretty crappy to allow this to happen. Now I'm waiting to see if anything else turns up.

  • So in response to the dismissively rude cancellation email I got, I asked "the works" to remove the simpsons book if its weight was the issue and send the rest of my order which I really want. I get back "If you wish you can place the order again". Holy shit, so you're not willing to correct your mistake yourself, you want me to waste more of my time trawling around your site finding and selecting my items and creating a new order.. which I can't do anyway because one of the books has been deleted completely, and they've jacked the shipping cost up to A$32 for ONE BOOK. It's like the biggest slap in the face from a company i've ever encountered. I'm going to make it my mission over the next few weeks to cause as much nuisance and disruption to the works as I can. If I had control of a botnet I would DDOS them, I hope they've got a good spam filter because i'm going to sign up all the customer service addresses i've got hold of to every damn mailout subscription service I can find. I hope you other OZbargainers aren't taking this crap lying down either!

  • I'm another one to add to the list of people who ordered from TheWorks and received the generic "wrong options" message.

So angry I didn't order from QBD.

  • Same :(
