I just received this email too, and I was going to post it here but then it would have been a duplicate. Lucky I didn't, it was a close shave !

Sorry dude, you can't beat your 4th Place Ribbons post that easily

I'm proud to be an ozbargainer but I'd rather not have the facial scar to prove it.

    • Do you mean these are counterfeit product ?

      • When they are called 'Compatible' blades, they aren't Gillette ones, it just means that Gillette's copywrite has lapsed and now anyone can make them.

It also means Gillette will have a new blade out soon maybe we'll finally get the mach 20.

        • never new that! thanks

    • +2

Just because they aren't brand name blades doesn't mean they aren't any good. Also if you scar yourself from shaving your doing it wrong.

I rather pay a bit more for genuine ones.

        • +2

While I can appreciate that I find the genuine ones to be incredibly over priced. I don't care if Tiger Woods or Hugh Jackman or whoever they want to pay to endorse their product uses their razors, I would prefer to buy a pack of Gillette's where a portion of proceeds go to charity rather than a portion of proceeds will buy 'x' celebrity a new Ferrari.

Gillette's where a portion of proceeds go to charity

Gillette is a manufacturing company not a charity…

I'd rather donate to a charity directly, claim the tax deduction, and not have a goods manufacturer charge me extra to make charity donations.

A bit more is 8 blades for the same price… :\

  • bic yellow one blade the best

    • Terrible

No, they're fantastic (as a gift to someone you particularly dislike)

  • Has anyone ever used these "compatabile" blades before. I see them sold by many sites like DX etc, often wonder if they are worth purchasing, i'm also wondering how many of these are sold in OZ markets etc as "originals"

    • Ebay is one example where I believe these are sold as original.

I bought some from DX a while ago - absolute rubbish - don't bother

  • Only downside i guess is thats its from Kogan.

    Kogan is an absolute tool

Don't you love the sensationalist journalism that is the herald sun. They tell half a story with the speed since his speed was only detected at 85kph that's what he was charged at.
Also if they honestly think that he would get a 2 year jail term for driving unlicensed then they are idiots, he's already allowed to drive up until September anyway and when his appeal is shot down then he has to be driven around for 6 months.

The Herald Sun is less of a newspaper and more of a tabloid magazine and becoming more so as each day goes by.

I won't buy the originals or the copies.

    Environmentally wastefull and expensive.
Use once on thick growth or twice on light and their useless.

Cut throat razor reuse reuse shapen reuse, the only way to go.

no worth, fakes are fakes. save your skin use original. plus kogan is a douche.

  • There has been reviews of the fake blades for various shavers and they always compare poorly. Either they work once and blunt quickly or never provide a good shave from the start.

Unfortunately the only way is genuine blades. Although as Bargainboogan says above, I might try using a proper blade sometime, apparently much better in the long run.

  • I got 16 of these blades shipped from DX.com but have not tried to use them yet. They were cheaper than Kogan at $6.59 per pack. Funnily enough, I just went back into my order and the product no longer exists.

Searching for them now shows a 4 pack at $20.50 on DX.

It seems they have realised how much we actually pay for them here in Australia so now they are gouging.
The ones I received seem to be of very similar quality and the packaging is in English.

Do some research though because there are plenty of places that sell these ripoff blades and you can and will get them cheaper than from Kogan if you do some digging.

  • Glad i bought the Original Gillette Fusion Proglide Power 6 Pack for ~$15 from Target. Should last 6-9 months. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101276

    • 1 blade lasts you 1-1.5 months? Do you shave every day?
I go through a blade about every 2.5 weeks.

      • Gillette say the cartridges should last up to 5 weeks with daily shaving. But this is obviously subjective, there are heaps of tips out there to help your cartridges last longer.

        http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=mIDfkix-HGQ&desktop_uri=%2Fwa…

Moisture is what kills razors so keep them in the cupboards or draws instead of on the counter top, rinse and immediately dry them after use. Some people even dip them in metholated spirits but that's where I draw the line personally.

        • I get about 4 weeks out of mine, but I'll admit my face starts looking like I've been dragged by the feet behind some redneck pick-up truck towards the final days. If I went for 5 weeks I'd probably scare people in public and be arrested.

        • +1

I use the newish Schick Hydros now and I find them a lot more comfortable with at least equivalent blade life.

      • I only shave once or twice a week. Thats probably why it last longer.

Don't forget to have a tetanus shot after use.
