Aldi Workzone Heavy Duty Shelf $49.99

90

Each shelf has 175kg load capacity
Galvanised steel construction with Chipboard shelving
Very versatile for confined vertical or horizontal spaces

I bought 5 sets of these last year when they were $69.99. At this even lower price, I believe this is very good value.

Edit - a similar product is available at bunnings, and it is 30cm wider, for $99

  • how does it connect together?

    • Pretty sure with these you just need a mallet to knock the railing of the shelves into the uprights.
The shelves should already be good to go.

I have a similar set from Costco that are a heavier duty shelf.

      Was around $89.00

    • The upper and lower sections connect with 2 steel tabs hammered into each corner. There are five sets of four metal "ledges" that are hammered gently in place (steel tabs again) and these support the shelves, which just rest on top.

      • HI, if you have one that's not in use, please PM me I really need and will buy it and pickup Brisbane. Thanks a lot

Just got the old tape measure out. In centimetres, 180x91x41.

      • Thank you very much!

  • OMG. Piece of crap. Seriously, if its the same one i bought 2 yrs ago. This said made in Australia.
The one from officeworks/bunnings says made in China. Strangely enough the China made one was sturdy. This Aldi one was so flimsy and had sharp edges I wouldnt get another one.

I'm still surprised at the "Made In Australia" thing in your post. How quaint.

        STRAYA!!!!

      • I actually thought it would be good cuz it was made in Australia. I have a feeling that either it wasnt made in Australia or Australian standards have dropped very very low

        • Just because it's made in Australia does not mean its of a higher quality. I work for a hardware wholesaler, we import building supplies that need to be engineered/made to australian standards. When comparing to competitors(china and aust) we are superior.

    • This one also has sharp edges but is certainly not flimsy! Perhaps you didn't connect the top and bottom sections together properly?

For anyone that buys this….before you put the top sections onto the metal connecting tabs, take the time to open out the slots slightly with a flat head screwdriver. Trust me, this will save you time and effort.

  • Bunnings sell similar for $59 but Bunnings one may be a bit bigger and have a couple of cage shelves for putting loose items in.

  • Is there an ALDI in WA yet? I cant find similar at Bunnings in WA for < $100 =(

  • Well i still like the shelf that i bought a year ago for half the price

Although it is half the weight capacity i cant justify paying twice as much for it. But i would buy another $26 shelf if it came up again as it suited my needs rather well.

    • Just over a third of the weight capacity. Sez it's 60KG on that one versus 175 kg on this one, but that's incredible value (for a lot of users that's fine).

  • Not that special really
    Bunnings have a similar one
    http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_handy-storage-gr…?
    4 shelves 150kg per shelf for 48.50
They also have one with 60kg per shelf for under $40

  • When ALDI says "heavy duty", it take it as normal duty at best.

    • I was surprised to see "made in germany" on the packaging of these shelves!

  • These are good if as the above poster said, you treat them as normal duty.

The frame itself once hammered together is very sturdy. The only problem is the front/ rear cross pieces don't provide enough support to the mdf, and it will sag in time if you leave heavy stuff on the shelf..

if you screw a small wood screw into the shelf , through the cross-peice it completely stops this happening.

I actually made quite a solid yet cheap workbench based on one of these shelves I picked up on clearance.

  • I bought that last year and boy.. it took me 2 hrs to assemble, also the pins which latch on to the stand got broken even when using a mallet and even my hand. Ouch…

Once you have asembled you "CAN NOT" and i will reiterate "CAN NOT" move it even 6 inches. Why??

    Beacuse it will break apart.

Lesson Learnt: NEVER BUY ANY HARDWARE OR DIY STUFF FROM ALDI. Recommend for buying normal day stuff like milk, bread sugar, cereals (Although they are a knockoff of good brands and do not taste good).

Any hardware purchase —> Go to Bunnings/Masters

  • If anyone has 1 of this not in use please PM me in Brisbane, desperately need 1 more, any time, can't buy in Aldi anymore, I will pick up, thanks,
