Where to buy cheap MicroSD cards- can eBay be trusted?

Hi,

So I'm looking to buy a MicroSD card for my phone (Galaxy SIII).

I would be used for storage of music and videos, and in an adapter as a USB.

I understand different speeds, mean different prices, but I've seen a huge range of prices on cards.

For example, on eBay UK, I can buy a 64GB class 10 MicroSD for ~$23. Their feedback is mixed- several good reviews on the item, and some saying it doesn't work. I don't know what to trust.

If I pay via PayPal, would I be able to be refunded should it be fake? Any suggestions on where to grab one cheap?

  • I bought couples of these

Never had problem, usually the costumer services are good the best thing fast postage you dont have to wait couple of weeks to get it

    • Yeah I bought some from Shopping Square too, no problem they're a local merchant.

    • Cheers, but I'm after 64GB cards. And they sell for $78.50 there which is quite a bit more than the $23 from eBay UK. Also, I'm in no rush for delivery as I don't even have the phone yet.

      • which brand they are ? unbrand ?
what about if you have problem with it ?(warranty) you have to send it back to UK. I think even if you found they are fake you need to return it.

If you're paying only $23 for a 64GB card, it's almost certain that it's not a good card to begin with.

Why go through all the hassle of having to go through Paypal, sending the item back, etc. You're just going to end up wasting time.

To be honest, spend the extra $30 or so for a SanDisk Mobile Ultra from StorageSpecialist on eBay. I've used them before and have always had great service - fast postage and always received a reliable product.

  • As with Kelvin above, $23 for class 10 64GB sounds extremely dodgey. Do a search through past OzB deal postings and you'll get a good idea of trusted sellers.

  • what ever you do make sure they offer warranty service and keep all your receipts and packaging
I've had a couple fail using with and android tablet

  • I paid 56.95 delivered through apusexpress2 on eBay for 64gb sandisk ultra microSD. I believe they are the same as shopping express. It came in a couple of days, in original packaging, and work fine.

      shopping square

  • I always order from Amazon (amazon as the seller too) or bhphotovideo.com - but I'm always buying other stuff at the same time.

$23 for 64 GB is extremely suspicious. 32GB should cost you just under that.

  • A friend of ours bought an unbranded 64GB SDHC on eBay and asked me whether it's genuine. I just had a quick look at the packaging — "wait, aren't 64GB+ called SDXC?" Yeah don't bother with cheap SD cards on eBay. Look for reputable sellers first.
