Air travel - changing brief stopovers to a couple of days stopping over instead

yeah, so I'm going to book tickets for Europe for late next year.

looking at something like Brisb—> Dubai/UAE—-> London.
and then return.

I would like to spend a few days in dubai/UAE (where ever the stop over may be).

When or how do I change the ticket from a few hours stop over to a few days?

when I book? after a book and make alteration?

thanks

I would say when you book. If you do it after booking there are normally costs involved which vary depending on the airline. Contact them and pose the question via email preferably so that you have the answer In writing.

    • Definitely do it when you book rather than later. You probably need to book with a travel agent or the airline call centre in most cases.

  • When I flew to NY via SF (2 day free layover) on United, I just booked it leg by leg (it's called Multiple Destinations on United). To confirm, you just need to see if the price you do leg by leg is the same as the roundtrip price.

  • As others said, have your itinerary worked out before you book. Alterations afterwards will be charged for.

  • cool, thanks. wasn't sure the how and when.

    cheers

  • A friend went through byojet. They allowed additional days in Dubai before going to London. Once he got the quote, he then went to flight centre and they matched the price.
