Experience with PayPal Claim. Tablet DoA from Banggood.com

Hi everyone,

I bought an ainol novo9 from banggood.com. After waiting for about 3 weeks it finally arrived this friday.
I was very excited and opened it in front of my colleagues at work with great expectation. To my dismay it didn't even turn on. Tried to charge it for about 3-4 hours.. still no response from the tablet. Overall was quite embarrassing and funny at the same time.. the name of the tablet didn't help either ( typical comments "is your a'i'nol working yet", "have you heard anything from your ainol") .

Anyway at the time I thought it was quite a simple affair of contacting them and organising for a replacement. But after several emails and trying to contact them through their chat centre all I got was insincere apologies n really bad solutions. First they asked me to send a video of the problem. I wasn't quite sure how to make a video of a dead on arrival product but I still took a video and sent it. I got back a few more emails from different people requesting for the video when it was clearly attached to the first email in the same thread. They were then suggesting to do a firmware upgrade and a reset when the tablet wouldn't even switch on.

I am now in a fix… I am not sure what do to now. I am thinking of making a claim through paypal. Have anyone made such a claim from paypal or banggood.com

Kindly post your experience.
Thanks.

Make a claimm straight away! the longer you delay the less likely they are to be concerned with paypal and i think you have 40-60 days after purchase only.

Jokes aside for actually buying it

Yep, it's 45 days…I just had to make one (not for Banggood though).

Just raise a ticket in the Resolution Centre, that locks in your date & gives the seller a chance to make good before you escalate it to a full claim.

  • Hi thanks for the replies. They have just got back. I think they have different departments for paypal claims and customer service though. The guys from the cust service has agreed to refund the money. I probably just have to cough up the return postage.

    • My experience with banggood have been pretty good. Emails were replied swiftly even if I emailed the wrong department and were able to direct me to the right people. I emailed the reps who post on Ozbargain as they are quite active anyways.

Got my money back easily, but also had to post a video. I don't blame them though.

    • screw paying return postage!

I would make a paypal claim anyway no matter what they promise to you before the 45 due day, after that you are not protected.

    • agreed. Open a dispute- then you have another 30~? days to escalate it to a 'claim'.

      Well worth it-

  • My dispute isn't as bad as yours, but found there staff rude and patronising. This was my problem;

  • A new twist in the story now is that Australia post is refusing to send the tablet back. Apparently they wouldn't touch anything with a lithium battery in it. Other postage options such as DhL is out cos it costs 250$ o_O …. I thought I was pretty much stuffed because when I contacted Banggood about this they actually said bring it with me when I go to China or send it with a friend … The audacity…lol… I have now made a claim with paypal.. They basically said I have to cop the delivery charges and send it back without even reading about my delivery issues. I called their call center and the rep asked me to submit a letter from the postmaster saying he wouldn't ship it and they will take it from there. I am hoping to do that tomorrow.

Will keep you guys posted. In the meanwhile beware when buying anything from China. I am now actually considering getting one of those credit cards with purchase protection. Apparently they will compensate you even if your item is lost or damaged within 45 days of purchase. Would have been really handy in this situation.

  • @ Acemeister: Yeah I saw your post mate….I had exactly the same issues with customer service….They asked for a video of a dead tablet… I looked quite stupid holding a dead tablet in my hand for a few seconds trying to switch it on… Pants are looking gr8 mate… maybe you can paint it fluorescent and sell it at a uni tight and bright party ;D ..
