Amazing.
I'm curious - what do people use these for? They just seem a bit too small (being laptop sized) to be useful on a desktop?
I'm planning on using it as a diagnostic monitor (I fix computers for a living).
Although my friend who just uses his computer for a small amount of facebook and online poker is fine with his 16"er for that those jobs.
I bought it at 'the bad guys' for $94. It SEEMS small, but once you get stuck into it you realise how capable the damn thing is! The small footprint is an absolute plus where price is at a premium, good enough to use, great for space!
If you have a media center PC, one output obviously going to your big TV, and I always have a tiny monitor for the second output for tasks when your TV is occupied with something or someone.
Why wouldn't u just SSH/VNC/RDP in…
Afaik you can't RDP at the same time as someone is doing anything on the media center PC because it logs them out and you in so they see a log in screen whilst you work. SSH? No idea what you mean here, I have used SSH on Linux to terminal login (and tunnelling a port) but terminal log in not much use for windows :P VNC same problem as RDP you take over the screen afaik.
Please correct me if i'm wrong as i'd love to find out if these can be done.
SSH - You didn't specify the OS you were using. Personally I wouldn't touch Windows esp. on a HTPC
But if you are using Windows there's a hack to enable multiple RDP sessions for XP Pro.
A 16" monitor would look "big" when used with a 8.9" netbook…
And as Bender stated above, it's a great compromise of viewable screen vs space consumed (at a v. low price).
+ve from me.
[ :- { )
9 years ago I bought a 15" LCD monitor for around $1,000 and it was "big enough" for me to do everyday job at 1024x768. How things have changed :)
Also wouldn't it be a good combination with those desktop Eee PC's that was sold for $340? An Atom powered quiet desktop box with 16" LCD monitor, brand new for under $450. Great for students I guess.
You can buy a 19"/48cm one from Coles for $300:
19" vs 16"
$300 vs $88
Hmmmmm; your point is AlexDude???
My wife went down to OW to get a pricematch on this, and the OW person called JB to confirm stock. The OW person reckons the JB person said the price was a mistake and the monitor is $200
So either the JB person lied to the OW person, or the OW person lied to my wife, or the JB person is a moron, or JB do consider it to be a mistake.
That said, there are like 4 mainstream retailers with these under $100, so JB are retarded if they think they can flog it off as a $200 monitor
OW ended up pricematching, but not with the %5 discount
yeah, I hate dealing with sales in JB & TGG, obviously this monitor is on the front page for good 16 hours. And its the only one monitor featured on their site. Think they just decide to play a little game as soon as they know it is from officeworks. Hey you never know, it could also be the OW playing the game.
Nah this monitor is the right price. I can say with 100% certainty the 16" monitor is definately this price.
Guys, I'm interested in buying this, but can anyone tell me if the base is removable? I plan to have this mounted.
Thanks
judging by their website, i think it can

So your -ve vote is because you think $88.20 is a poor deal for this monitor Quantocks?
Price matched for $83.79 at officeworks.
Thanks OP for the bargain!!!
quantocks is a fool
Ah, damnit, bought one of these at officeworks for $94 the other day.
I assume you can OW pricematch the JB deal for $83.79 if you can be bothered.
