Reduced from $100, apparently platform specific so wont work with android. Will test this later myself.

I absolutely agree with you on that one, apparently there are two models, each incompatible with the other app. iOS version typically costs more so maybe it works with both? Or more likely your paying extra because it says apple in the box.
Seems dumb as our home and likely many others are a mix of androids and slightly despised iOS products.
DSE site says compatible with Android on the product page, so worst comes to worst you could take it back for a refund.
Confirmed no android support
Confirmed with Android support LOL

Yep, so two different hardware types.
regardless, it might be a product to avoid.
Absolutely gets it's arse kicked on the apple site

The DSE listing doesn't mention whether it's iOS or Android - and the app is free on either store. So I would assume it would work with both then. Might pick one up myself after work, there seems to be quite a bit of stock around.
"Four AA batteries fit in the base and serve as its only source of power. Unfortunately, you can't just plug it into a wall and let it go, and you'll need to replace the batteries about as often as a remote's batteries." (PC Mag - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2403531,00.asp)
"Power:
4 AA batteries
Expected battery life: Up to 8 weeks under heavy usage; monitor battery life within the Dijit App."
So need more Eneloop's :)

But then I couldn't buy any more pink glitter eneloops!
Kinda off-topic but not… the Samsung Galaxy S4 has a built-in IR blaster that can do all of this… just in case anyone out there was considering upgrading soon anyway. Seems to work well even with the cheap/abstract brand TVs and STBs/Media Players I've tested it on.
Well I'd be a bit p!ssed off if it didn't, you know, given it says it does.
