  • Mine says amended now. Bugger would have liked new phones

  • Mine is being amended too. Annoyed…

  • It just shows that the Dick Smith ordering system must have some how buggered up making too many orders and not enough stock for them. So just because you ordered doesn't necessarily mean you'll end up getting one.

I swear… sometimes our love of bargains ruins it for everyone. People buy them even when they really do not need them and then everyone misses out. :(

    • +2

Some people probably only order it for the intent on put them up on ebay at a nice tidy profit. So watch ebay in a few days time for some new Panasonic KX-TG5523ALB phones appearing for sale probably at over three times the current price.

    • That's the ozbargain demographic, and what keeps the site going. If ozbargain members were somehow only permitted to buy those things they really need then Ozbargain would cease to exist.

  • I'm curious to what time everyone ordered at? Mine was around 1:04 and it also says amending.

    • Got my confirmation email at 12.54 and also being amended

  • 11:02 WA -perth time it said 'In Progress'

  • noooooooooooooo i really need a cordless phone with 3 handsets…. and have been looking…… the day i don't look at ozbargain, the day i miss out :(

    • +3

You would have had to check ozbargain every 5 minutes to ensure you got this one.

  • Still in progress and no update.

    • It say Still in progress..

NB: being Panasonic you may need a Panasonic-specific filter in order to not interfere with your ADSL.

(Caveat: I haven't researched in last couple of years to see if this is still the case with newer Panasonic models, and I don't know how old this model is.)

    • +2

The ADSL phoneline filter should be the same for all phones.
They work by blocking all frequencies from the phone above 4Khz, so it doesn't matter what brand of phone.

It's like having a 4m high tunnel, it block any truck higher then 3m, whether it's an Isuzu, Mac, Volvo or Caterpillar.

  • Dick Smith….. ambitious but rubbish….. ;)

hmm i called DSE yesterday afternoon about this..my order has been cancelled..they told me that there were incorrect stock number in the system, so couldn't fulfil all orders.

my order confirmation came in at 12.55 if that helps.

    • Mine came in 13:15, so no hope here.

  • Mine still says "being amended".

    • Call, that's what mine said.

Why can these people get away with constantly advertising stuff they haven't got?

  • Just an update I ordered a couple, no update so I called them only to be informed that the system took into account returned stock so they will not be able to honour.
Offered a discount on an alternate item or a refund, just went with a refund.

If you have an order call to check otherwise you may be waiting forever only to be dissapointed.

  • Officially received the cancellation email.

  • +2

Also received an email. Bunch of useless morons. They've been in business for 45 years and they can't even keep track of stock?

This is why Australian retailers are struggling!

    Go to hell DSE!

  • just received my order cancellation as well.

  • Well I just got an email - Order has been cancelled! boooo

  • cancellation email here

  • received cancellation email as well, took DS 3 days to sort this!

  • Order cancelled! Hope DSE pay up the $15.50 due for the d-link offer! Don't think d-link will accept losing money on those routers

  • cancelled! But been doing OK out of DSE. No prob.

  • It will be interesting to see how long the refunds take. I hope they are more efficient than HN.

  • Got the same email this is a joke!! I'm gonna call em and try belt them out to honour it!

    • -1

Did you miss my post above?
The reason they're not honoring is the system was selling returned items which are to be returned to the supplier.
Of course if you want a set that has been returned for various issues go ahead.

      • And you believe that they had 100's of units waiting to be returned to the manufacturer?

        • I doubt it's 100's and some people may receive their item.
I guess it must be a conspiracy.

        • 7000+ clicks. They would have received 100's of orders. Maybe a handful of lucky ones will receive their order.

        • There were nowhere near that many clicks when it was sold out, around 150.
Also not everyone who clicks through buys.

        • I placed two orders at two different times ending in 692# and 650#

That might give you an idea how many orders they had received - 100's

        • lol so you're suggesting that all the Dick Smiths orders at that time were for this one product. I hope you realise how ridiculous that sounds.

        • Not all but a lot of them would have been

          See this comment http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/102382#comment-1374882

      • I think thats a load of crap… I'm guessing someone missed the extra 0 on the end when they listed the price.. so now its a cover up response to everyone..

  • I got the same email as well.. I wonder if anyone will receive the device.

  • paid with paypal. paypal resolution centre do your thing.

  • +2

Oh well, I was the OP and got the order cancellation email, too. Better luck next time. Good thing I don't really need it at this time, heh.

    • +2

I paid by giftcard, so the guy on the phone can't really refund my $33 back to the original source, he offered me 2 x $20 giftcards instead, and I happily accepted it. So there's at least $7 profit out of this thread.

      • Who/what number did you call exactly? I made a partial payment via a gift card, so I'm in a similar predicament.

EDIT: Oh, the 1300 Customer Service number?

        • Yes,that's the number.

    • This might be a silly question but did you place your order before you posted this deal on Ozbargain? If so, DS have a lot of questions to answer.

      • They had their answer, system error with the stock number, so not necessarily the fault of us OZBer. It's physically out of stock even before OP found it, but the system thought there's another 200 or something in the warehouse. Then OP bought it and posted the link, and the virtual stock were ozbargained quickly after that.

  • Sigh, effort wasted, got my cancellation e-mail as well…

BUT good on you OP, it's not your fault at all - I would post the deal too if I could have found it earlier :)

I only wonder does anyone actually get one at this price? :)

  • Just an FYI for everyone… Called DSE they said they need contact from a customer to cancel and refund even though the email states they will refund. Just an FYi if you want your money back call them I guess. Grrr still spewing ;-/

  • +1

I paid through Paypal and they state money is not actually taken at first, only once Dick Smith has processed the order, which according to Paypal they did 10 min later.

So money taken, constitutes a contract, so they have to hand over the goods.

Why are Australian on-line retailers so f****** useless!

  • Today I call them and they say they don’t have stock..And they refund my money..
They are not able to give in this price.. It was price mistake or they are doing cheating..

OZ Bargain shoud shout for the DSE policy…

  • F@ck you DSE

This is the third time you have misled and deceived me…

Plus how bad is it that you can't even cancel the order until you speak to the customer.

No wonder you guys lost heaps of money when Woolies owned you - it looks like things haven't improved….

  • Doesn't this practise constitute credit card fraud, when stating they will refund, but never does?

  • Still no sign of a refund.

  • F@ck you DSE

When people buy Canon D20 cameras at below cost price you honour the deal.

But for Panasonic phones you just screw us and cancel the orders.

  • still waiting for my refund,

tried calling the call centre but gave up due to long wait.

    • Report them to the ACCC and then email Dick that you have, I did and got refund 4.5 hours later.
