  • price is dropping fast. Should I wait for the waterproof S4?

    • It will be quite expensive plus it's only rumors at the moment anyway

    • +9

Aesthetically, looks way better than S3 and S4

      • yes but the S3/4 are designed that way to feel more comfortable in your hand and pocket.

      • -2

No way, the Jap's have named this model "Ug Lee"!!!

    • +1

      nah wait for the S5!

    • Wait for the S4 active. The benchmarks on this phone are not impressive compared to a SS4 or HTC one

  • +1

wow I'm going o/s and thought I'd get something there but the prices here aren't too bad

  • +2

got this from them 3 weeks ago and paid about $550. This is a great price. Very very pleased with the phone!

  • +1

Also have this phone and it's brilliant. The waterproofing is really quite practical I don't mind having my phone on me if I'm bush walking or dirt biking and there's the chance of rain.

    • hows the battery?

      • Battery life is good, last the whole day without charging. The latest firmware improves battery life even more.

        • +1

i 2nd that. very pleased with the battery.

  • I was going to buy one from MobileCiti but for almost $100 cheaper this is very temping…

  • -5

Be careful with these phones, 3 people I know got them and they all had to take them back as the battery only lasted 3-4 hours, 1 of those people is returning theirs again for the same issue. The batteries are non removable as well so you can't replace them down the track.

    • +1

I got this phone and battery life is great. Heavy use last me a full day.

  • Does anybody know about the Sony Tourist warranty an Kogan
cause it covers Hongkong purchases in Aust
    information.

Q1: What is the TLW (Tourist Limited Warranty)?

•The TLW is a warranty that is issued* to customers at the point of purchase when they purchase selected products out of their country/area of residence.
    * Please see Q2.

    Q2: Who issues the TLW?
•The TLW is issued by selected authorised dealers in selected countries/areas. Please contact the Sony office in your local country/area for the most updated information.

Q3: What are the terms of the TLW?
•The TLW warrants the Sony product to its original purchaser against defects in material or workmanship during ordinary consumer use, as follows:
For a period of 1 (one) year from the Date of Purchase, Sony will bear the labor charges and the costs of parts needed for the repair of the product determined to be defective by the Authorized Service Centers or Sony Service Centers listed in the TLW card or other facilities designated by the Contacts listed in the TLW card ("Sony's Repair Facility(ies)")
To receive the warranty services, the defective product, together with the TLW card and the Receipt and Invoice has to be delivered, by hand or sent by prepaid delivery service, to a Sony's Repair Facility, at your own risk and expense. The repaired product may be returned by post (air/surface) upon your request and at your own risk and expense. When submitting the Sony product for warranty service, it is important that the model and serial number on the Sony product matches the model and serial number stated on the TLW card.

    • Doubt Kogan is an authorised dealer, let alone one of the selected ones.

  • There is room below the screen for capacitive buttons. I wish they used it.

    • -1

      Why?

      • +1

so you get more screen real estate?

      • Duh.

  • -2

Great price. I really like the look of these, but the screens are very average compared to the HTC One, Iphone 5 et al.

    • +5

I wouldn't go as far as saying "very average" as the screen is fantastic, it just so happen that the others are slightly better. Drop all 3 in some water and see which screen looks the best then ;)

      • screen is super clear and given how strong the phone feels, i would still pick this over a HTC and as for Iphone5…a longer version of an iphone, 4, 4s 3gs etc, big deal apple.

      • -2

Actually, it's widely criticised for having terrible viewing angles, and washed out colours. But continue to down vote me folks.

        • +1

have you used one before? Don't always rely on the reviews. I went in store and had a look at one, no issues with the screen at all

        • +3

And yet in real world usage who honestly views it from anything but pretty much straight on? But anyway if you insist…

  • This or the Note 2 for $489 … which is the better phone?

    • That's a no brainer, Xperia Z offcourse. Look up the specs and you know why.

      • +2

Not really a no brainier, it really just depends on what you want.
Battery Life is better on Note 2.
Note 2 has stylus for people who want to be artists.

Xperia Z has a nicer camera
        Looks more slick
Better screen, however at the sacrifice of viewing angles.
        Worse battery life

Software on Samsung is quite alot better than Sony.

  • +8

I droped my xperia s in the toilet when i saw this

  • Battery Stamina mode, nuff said!

  • I can't decide on this phone- being square makes it feel quite a lot more bulky that the S3/S4…

  • +3

I have loved the Xperia Z since the specs were first released. I love the square look - other phones just look terrible in comparison (IMHO). Also so badly want this phone so I can use it while in the spa. Really regretting buying Nexus 4 now #firstworldproblems

    • Sony used sharp corners because they didn't want to be sued by Apple.

      • +1

        and because it looks better

        • +3

agreed, love the hard edges sony used. best looking (and top specs) phone on the market imo.
