Has anyone had any experience in receiving a personal payment through paypal (no fees payable) as a payment for example a loan? Could this be a way to be scammed or is it perfectly safe? Could the payment be reversed by the sender? Anyone's help would be appreciated.

Not always; you could pay by "Pay for goods or services" and that incurs no fees.

Wow really now?
Never really knew that because for OCAU trades that how I normally do it if I pay via PayPalFor OP, why not just do a bank deposit?
Incorrect.
It's free to pay.
It costs 3% to RECEIVE.Not necessarily - there is only a fee if the sender uses a credit or debit card to fund the payment. If it comes from Paypal balance or bank account it is free.
yes! i can be reversed by the CC company, or if the sender files an unauthorised transaction. i would not receive money via paypal for anything other than ebay purchases. use bank deposit or cash
Can anyone suggest a fair and reasonable way for both parties(buyer n seller)?
Purchases not on ebay but through other sites like Gumtree and other 'non secure' sites.Bank deposits - If goods are not received or faulty, how would the buyer overturn the payment, and how many days before the power to do so expires if applicable?
Cash on delivery - If buyer n seller agrees, it's fair? Maybe through Aus Post?
PayPal - If buyer overturns payment seller loses goods and payment? Where does the seller stand?
Personal pickup and payment - surely is the safest but most online buys are not within reach of their respective area.Thoughts ?
PayPal always get their pound of flesh. 3% for personal payments I believe
