White ant (termite) treatments

I was visiting a friend today, saw something strange. On closer inspection, I am convinced that there is a white ant infestation. The thing is, before the pest guys are called, my friend wants to know what will be done insofaras inspection is concerned. They have a lot of crap. The cupboards are full and there are two junk rooms. I said that this was an opportunity to do a clean out. Not a hoarder, just lots and lots of crap.

What we'd like to know is when the white ant guy comes, do you generally need to pull everything out of your cupboards and pull all of your furniture away from the walls? Should they just start boxing up all the crap in the cupboards and junk rooms and put them in the middle of a room (or two)? It looks like I'm going to have to help.

TIA

  • The infestation is in the ceiling between the ground floor and the first floor.

It really depends on the pest controller they choose and which treatment option they decide on. Most use baiting now which is usually mixed up and placed in a box on the wall/roof over the activity. Others might dust the termites which could mean finding other areas of activity to affect more termites. After that, a liquid treatment under the house or around the outside will usually be offered. Either way, any good pesty will inspect the entire property first and if the house is full of crap they will just tick off the areas as inaccessible due to stored goods/furniture. They will probably insist the crap is cleared out so they can see all sections of the house and if it isn't done any warranty claims will be affected. If you are in Sydney our company could come have a look. Please don't touch or spray any areas of activity.
