    • I wonder why Crucial.com is out of stock so often. Considering they only stock their own products.

      • the drive is popular bc its cheap and everyone must be buying directly from crucial
Buying from Crucial is also cheaper than buying from other retailers.
Currently cheaper than Amazon, Best Buy, Fry's etc

        • they ship to Aus then?

        • Crucial.com .. yes they do

        • Strange way to do business!

        • cut out the middleman and take all the profits yourself? YES IT IS :)

          Crucial must of been "Brodened"

Out of stock 'cause Broden has bought them all and is selling them on ebay

          PROFIT !!

  • 960GB… your porn loads up instantly!

    • So a mixed bag, until you scroll towards the end…

      • I don't think it's even a valid comparison.

This comparison only really means something if you're upgrading from a 256gb M4 to a 960gb m500. It tells you exactly what you will get in that scenario.

The closest you will get for a true comparison is comparing a 512gb M4 to a 960gb m500 drive (this way it has the same number of memory channels).

All you can really say here is that the read on the m500 is extrordinarily poor by comparison to the m4. It's running slower whilst having less memory channels. Although the write speeds are higher on the m500, you can't actually conclude that they are in fact better since they needed to test a 512gb M4 to make this conclusion.

EDIT: Aah, anandtech lets you select which drives to compare. Try this link: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/806?vs=355
Turns out it's a reasonable comparison, the 480gb is about the same as the 960gb.

        • To me reads are the most important. I want my SSD's for speed on loading games, apps, booting etc..
