Nexus 4 screen repair cost??

Hey guys,

Have unfortunately just dropped and shattered the screen of my new nexus 4 :'(
The touch screen itself doesn't work any more, but the physical buttons are still working.
Does anyone know how much the estimated repair cost will be?

Thanks

  • Hi Rayner, I am about to place an order for Nexus 4 and saw your post.
Curious to know whether this is because the material of the screen (easily breakable? glass or plastic?). I remember reading somewhere that say it is a must to be a proper screen protector and/or case.
Also, do you know how the warranty works? If you get an outside repairer, would your warranty be void??
    Thanx for reading.

    • hey, my nexus 4 has actually been really good, and i did have the invisible shield by zagg, but unfortunately it did not cover the edge of the phone.
I dropped it on the edge unluckily! and the glass cracked from the impact, the screen is supposed to be made of gorilla glass which is meant to be quite strong, but i dont think it (like most phones) withstands drops very well. I would highly recommend getting a case.
Im not sure how the warranty works, but I assume since I dropped it, it would be void anyway..

  • Slightly adjacent to the topic. Does anyone know somewhere in Australia that has cheap (under $10) but very thin Nexus 4 cases?

$165 from LG Customer Care in Sydney

Or call LG Care (AU): 1-300-54-2273 and ask for your closest authorized repairer.

  • $85 on ebay - http://tinyurl.com/bvcsud2
    repair guide (ifixit) - http://tinyurl.com/crja66f

it's not rocket surgery. I've repaired iphones, htcs, nokias, samsungs. straight forward and not that complicated.

just keep track of the various screws, don't use too much force, work at a clear bench with good light and follow the guide.

the phone manufacturers don't make phones complicated to assemble because that is expensive for the manufacturing process

  • Phone LG Care (AU): 1-300-54-2273 and they recommended Fonebiz at Chermside (closest authorized repairer). Lg care said it would be the same price as Sydney - Fonebiz quoted $203.50 with a 45 minute turnaround providing they had the parts. I may have to turn into a phone repairer as well :(

  • nexus 4 are in stock again $169 and half an hour wait, please call to make the booking 03 9421 4357
