Amazon have a deal where you can buy the Star Wars 3 movie sets for US$32.99 each. Cheaper than JB and buying the 6 movie set. Tho note the 6 movie set comes with 3 extra behind the scenes discs. Me, I hate the prequels so I only bought the originals with glee.

Yes, they are region free.

    • Amazon list the prequels as Region A/1. Region B Prequel is available from Amazon UK but costs £31.00 (Zavvi is £30.95).

      • DEFINITELY region free. Amazon never discloses region status. Blu-ray.com gets the reviewers to check the coding on the disc.

  • Not the lowest though on camel x3

This reminds me I should have bought the REAL original version on VHS i saw at vinnes a few weeks ago. What a collectors edition!

    • Those vhs copies appear on ebay all the time. Theyre actually not worth much at all.
The full box set was about aud$68 shipped when it was first released on amazon.uk. Should have bought it then but was silly enough to pass, holding out for it it hit $50.
Its still the cheapest ive seen. Its currently 60 pounds.

Good deal, I have the original trilogy on blu-ray.
Having said that, it is horrible seeing all of the inserted CGI, ESPECIALLY the horrendous abortion that is the retouched Jabba the Hutt. It completely ruins the experience of watching the originals.

  • Honestly, I'd rather pick up the prequel trilogy since it at least seems more 'pure' to its original release than the butchered OT. This version has all the technical problems of the 2004 DVD (Lobster Man) coupled with even more egregious edits (Obi-Wan's screech, NOOOOOO, rocks in front of R2).

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    • I don't give a shit about 'pure to its original release' I want the best version of the films. With Star Wars that happens to be its original release (VHS special edition in high def would be fine too). The original trilogy still shits all over 1&2 no matter what, 3 could be turned in to a good Star Wars with some good editing.

Everyone needs to buy these already! The sooner everyone owns them the sooner Disney will release an ultimate collection with all of the different versions.

      • I don't want to encourage double-dipping. They have had the ability to release the original trilogy for a long time, they are just waiting for suckers to buy this one, then buy the other one when it finally comes out.

We have a new Star Wars movie coming out. They will probably release the original "untouched" trilogy on blu-ray when that hits the cinema.

  • Op, can you please add "each" to the price in the title? Thanks.

    • Sorry, good tip

    Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition

It's a fan edit where they've got a whole bunch of different sources to put together an unadultered HD copy of the movies.
Episode IV is basically finished and they've done initial releases of Eps V and VI.
And before anyone attacks me, I used to own the VHS and currently own DVD release of the original trilogy.
