Recommendation for XBMC remote?

Hey guys,

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a remote that can be used with XBMC on my microsever? It would also be ideal if it has a microphone in it (not sure if this is possible), I'm not looking to spend a great amount of money at the moment.

Thanks in advance!

  • I picked up a Harmony 700 a few years back for $30ish from the logitechshop when on sale.

All you need is to buy an IR receiver to plug into the microserver and then you can control all your devices with it.

  • In xbmc there is a setting or something that allow your xbmc and TV to use the same remote. In fact when you xbmc boots it tell you on screen bottom right hand corner that this is active. I use my panasonic TV remote, aim the remote at the tv, and the raspbmc gets the command from the tv. Very cool.

  • We reverted to the Logitech K400 keyboard with track pad to use with it, as just got fed up with remotes doing weird things intermittently.. keyboard is tiny, and we've been really happy with it.

We have a Harmony remote too, and a windows remote I think? But yeah, Keyboard, easier!

    • We also have a k400, but while moving around in xmbc my wife find the remote a bit easier

  • I use this one:

and he work very good. Works with XBMC out of the box. I use mine with OpenElec, and no configuration was necessary. Plug in via USB and you're good to go. No microphone, however.

    • Thanks! I just ordered one and am looking forward to testing it.

  • I like the Android XBMC Remote
    Buy a y201 for $39 and use that :)

    • Even has a microphone!
I presume you want a microphone for Skyping?
If so, you ought to be able to use the phone camera as a WiFi webcam..

    • Yeah this on a phone or tablet is great.

Works fine on a cheapo tablet or phone - and you can even run a full xbmc instance on one to have a portable display hooked into you NAS.

  • thanks for all the responses guys! I will read through them all more thoroughly and make a decision. also, the microphone will be used for TTS.

  • Android remote on phone and tablet
Tablet gives me the (almost)worlds largest remote, never lose it and no mistaking what button does what.

  • using two mce remotes (Chinese HP remote and a maestro from my local) plus yatze + official android remote on my tablet and old htc sensation. :)
