(NOTE: The donation is only for those wines listed in the newsletter link)

The effect of the fires in Victoria have effected an incredible amount of families and we sit here with disbelief as to amount of lives and property that has been lost. It has affected everyone here at jackswine and to those that were not in Victoria, Saturday was the worst day I have ever experienced with the Hot winds and the temperature reaching 47. We can never feel what those that have lost will ever feel but we can make a financial contribution to help those that need it the most.
So for every sale in the 24 Hour sale we will donate $20 to the Fire Relief Fund Jack Simic

  • Don't support corporations trying to get advertising off the back of a disaster.

    • Your post suggests that at the end of the day there may be more sinister reasons for the donations, which I agree is true, but what's the alternative? No donation at all? Myer may match dollar for dollar up to 500k and sure they will piggyback some sales but they are also providing a valuable and convenient service to make a donation which will inevitably mean a greater number of donations. Besides, surely no bank would make a $1 million anonymous donation.

The following is an example of a corporation I would not support…

As we all know, the state of Victoria has been struck with tragedy over the past few days, with bushfires taking lives, destroying homes and decimating communities.

There is no doubt that the monumental damage done as a result of this tragedy makes matters such as sport and punting absurdly trivial. We recognise this, but we also recognise the fact that through these means, we are able to make a contribution, to those who have suffered as a consequence of this disaster.

This contribution will come in the form of a donation to the Victorian Premiers Fund, of all revenue generated by Betfair on all Victorian horseracing markets on Wednesday 11th of January

Betfair will donate a minimum of $25,000 and we ask that you support this cause by either having a matched bet on any Victorian horseracing market or making a direct donation by going to www.redcross.org.au. The minimum bet is just $5, and every little bit of your financial support will help.

        Bad luck.

        I just placed a $100 BetFair bet.

Specially because they are helping the Bushfire.

        I don't care about motivations.

I just care about cash at any cost. Even if I had to sell my blood, I would do it to help those poor people.

      disaster.

Who really cares how the money get there, or what you have to go through to get it?

As long as it is COLD HARD CASH, nobody cares.

So what if it's a marketing gimmic?

      WHO CARES!?!?

"People are dying NOW! Give us the money NOW! Give me the money now!" - As Sir. Bob Geldof said at Live Aid, 1985.

You're making a big deal out of nothing.

And nobody cares. Apart from you.

  • As long as the money reaches those in need, I could care less regarding the motivation.

    • You do realise that the phrase is "couldn't care less"
Currently you are saying that you COULD care less. Which is to say that you CARE.

  • Delivery cost $60 for 3 cases to WA. Maybe all the postage will be donated to the bushfire victims. In this case, it will be a great deal.
