Anyone dealt with a Business Broker?

My husband is contemplating the possibility of selling his home based web design business but we have absolutely no idea of where to start. I should imagine there are a lot of things to be considered i.e. taxes, handover and paperwork - vital things we need to be made aware of and ultimately, we would want the best possible price for a LOT of blood, sweat and tears that has gone into the business. Has anyone had any affiliation and/or experience with selling this kind of business? Do we get a broker involved or should we be approaching businesses that may be interested?
