  • Hey rep, Does this include the cable? or do we need to buy separately?
Seems like a good price compared to last time I looked. The price of a decent guitar is what stopped me jumping in last time.

  • It would have to wouldn't it? otherwise the game is useless?

    • Yes but you can buy it separately. You can even get this game on steam.

When you add in the $15 for postage it's not so good. You can get it cheaper on ebay.

  • I've been contemplating getting rock smith for awhile but not sure of which guitar to get

Are any of these worth getting or stay away? I haven't been able to find reviews.

If you're looking into playing the guitar a bit more seriously, I would suggest picking up one of the mid-range models. But if you're only looking into playing around a bit with Rocksmith and learning a few chords here and there to play, then either of the guitar models you mentioned should be fine. The first model you mentioned has dual Humbuckers while the second model has two single coil and a Humbucker. Your choice will depend on the kind of sound/style you prefer. Personally, I reckon the dual single-coil pickups + humbucker is a bit more versatile.

Don't touch those Monterey guitars, they are garbage. If you want a decent beginners guitar just get something cheap like LTD ESP M-10, Yamaha EG112 or a Strat, they will set you back $180 to $250. If you decide to take it seriously you can always upgrade to a good one later on in life.

    • any idea why the track listings are different?

    there is also this option

    http://www.ozgameshop.com/ps3-games/rocksmith-authentic-guit…

    ozgameshop have a note saying

"Please note: this is the NTSC version of the game which is compatible with PAL systems. Any future DLC may require a US PSN account."

So depends on if you're after extra content.

    • The US content is a bit cheaper and comes out sooner so if you've got the option I would go US, provided getting US PSN cards isn't a problem for you.

  • Rep, any matching on Xbox360?

  • Is this game any good? I have read some reports likening it to a simple instructional game (with long loading times) and others that claim it is fun. Can anyone offer their experience - compared to other plastic-guitar games - or for those who are beginner/intermediate guitarists, do you enjoy playing this?

  • I have this. There is one major flaw with it: Lag. It might not sound like much, but there is a split-second delay from when you hit your string to the sound you hear from your speakers. It just throws your timing RIGHT off, and this game is all about timing.

The box even comes with instructions on how to get the best sound, but it still makes the disclaimer that there is a bit of lag. I was highly disappointed with this game.

I haven't tried it yet, but I was told the absolute best thing to do about the lag is to plug your guitar into a guitar amp, then plug that into the PS3 via the provided cable. That way, whatever you play will come out of the amp in real-time, while the game's audio will come out of your speakers. It's hard to explain unless you try it out.

So, if you get this game and you don't have a guitar amp, get one.

    • The lag sounds horribly annoying. GH is bad enough on many TV/console combos and that's with the ability to offset the digital delay.

I have an amp, but I'm unsure about the amp-out cable to which you refer…
