New native Australian shrimp in stock! With their signature humped back, these guys are very clear without much colour just like in our rivers and lakes.

We also have some neocaradianas as usual:
Ghosts - $2.50
Red Cherries - $3.99

Blues - $12

These Freshwater Dwarf Shrimp are a great addition to your clean-up crew. Great Algae eaters, and easy to keep.
Temperature: Optimal 20-26°C, but they can tolerate extremes from 8-30°C in the wild.

Dwarf Shrimp are scavengers. They eat algae, bacteria and other microorganisms around the tank, and will never attack other live animals. They have a minimum bio-load and are a great addition to almost any tank's ecosystem!

Keeping with fish:
The general rule for all aquatic life is "if it fits in their mouth they will eat it." Unless you have specifically passive or vegetarian fish, shrimp may be eaten by any fish which is large enough to swallow one hole. Adult shrimp grow to 2cm in length, with juveniles being at least 1cm. Conversely, any smaller fish will live with them very happily. They may eat the baby shrimp if they breed, but if you have enough plant cover, usually enough survive to keep the colony going.

    Damn shrimp is affordable these days. If I can grow enough shrimp, I won't have to pay the $40 for shrimp at coleworth. The savings is the worth the sickness /s

        Hmm that's a fair point. It may cost a lot in the short term but shall definitely be worth it in the long run. Thanks OP. Can I please have 5 men and women shrimps. None of the children is preferable.

        But in all honestly, good deal OP. Now I can save the $1 for shrimp and spend an extra $200 on things needed for the shrimp :).

    will this be a good strter? im noub to aquarium but im guessing we buy the kit, add water, and maintain the ph, add some chlorine would be suffieicnt? thank you !

      It's fine just:
      1. Don't add more than 4-6 fish, or shrimp only would be great.
      2. Make sure all fish are small and don't grow to over 4cm.
      3. Ideally don't start with all fish, just shrimp or 1-2 fish, then add the rest after two weeks if there are no issues.

      Don't worry about the PH, just make sure you add the de-chlorinator to any tap water before adding it into the tank and:
      Change 25% of the water every week with fresh water and
      Never clean the filter sponge under tap water, and never turn it off (except when cleaning the sponge about twice a year, whenever the filter flow slows down, and always clean it in old tank water when you do a water change).

      Finally be careful not to overfeed, you never want food sitting around in the tank for more than 5-10 minutes.

    Minimal amount to order for them to populate slowly?
    In a currently 20l snail only tank.
    Also is a running filter needed? I turned mine off now that I only have snails.

      Yes a filter is needed, and I recommend 10 to start a colony.

      However for a 20L you might want 6-8. If you'd like to breed them seriously you need at least a 30L tank.
