The soles on my perfectly fine otherwise asics cumulus 23 which I spent $200 on just for walking, after 1 year. Complete joke, doesn't matter how comfortable they are if the wears away so easily. I'll be sticking to $100 deals now.

Asics quality has really dropped in recent years, I've worn nimbus for 15 years and I normally got a new pair every year (on sale) and now the new pairs are lucky to last 6 months.

      • I managed to take a chunk out of the side of 2 pairs of Nimbus 26 recently. I do not bash my shoes about or mistreat them, but I think it must be due to the softness in the material they use.

    • I found the same with the last pair of Kayano 28 I bought. I've always had great experiences with ASICs so it hasn't put me off (yet) but another pair like that and I'll be moving on.

I bought a pair of Asics 6 months ago and they have more wear on the soles than my Adidas which I used for 12 years…
They weren't a high end pair but it's still rather annoying.

    • The latest ASICS defintely have softer soles. You can see with the upcoming 31 they look to be changing them.

In saying that 1 year depending on how often your walking might not be unreasonable. I'm in runnings everyday for work+some runnjng and would be going through 3-4 pairs of high end runners year. 800km a pair less if running/playing sport adds up quickly if your doing 10000 steps a day.

      • Sounds reasonable to me. Guess people expect stuff to last forever.

I got some Nimbus 26 recently from the 20% off Rebel deal (+ 8% SB), $195. Not bad for the latest.
They do seem soft, extremely comfy and like walking on clouds.

IMO best to keep for only running to minimise compression/wear, got enough other shoes for walking and casual. Those Pegasus are more than good for walking and last a long time.

  • Ive been using alcantra escalante 3 they are they best running shoes ever

Its a bit "sneaky", in that not all sizes are that price…so they bait you with the cheap headline price….go there and find its only on size 8's.

    • Usually the way, only certain colours and sizes.. although depends how quick you are as well.
