You're allowed to add more than one watch to the post / description.

      Example here.

Note the radio control function won't work in Australia.

    • There's an app for that

    • +2

Yes it does in Queensland. Set the watch to Japan daylight saving time, its the same as Queensland. I can receive the JJY signals most nights.

      • Nah I tried all that, doesn't work (Casio Lineage).
        Maybe in FNQ.

Btw those other apps suck, is too manual and takes longer than just resetting the seconds every few months (not to mention the annoying high pitched sound). Best not worrying about it or getting a Bluetooth Casio. Syncs 4 times a day with the app.

        • +1

Worked for me in Brisbane with Casio Lineage. Maybe it was luck! The app takes a minute and no annoying sounds. I just start it and brush my teeth, not really annoying in anyway at all.

          • @onlinepred: Thats lucky, maybe i need to leave it outside or something. Which app again? Didn't find a good one for android.

I was playing w/ the settings for ages, not that straight forward on the watch ( LCW-M100TSE-1AJF )
It's set to JPN DST, when i hold down bottom right RC button, then you use the app i assume? When I manually do it it just says ERROR

RC always shows 1-17 when it was last synced in Japan.

I have no problems syncing my 10 yr old citizen watch here in Vic, it does not sync daily but it syncs few times a month. As I have few of them, if it does not sync you can use JJY simulator which is avaliable on apple/google store.

      • Hey mate, can you check my screen shot above of the app, which do you select? Seems like there is something I'm missing. Are you meant to hear the high pitched frequency?

        • +1

@G-rig: You are in the right screen, I always select 40KHz (Fukushima) as I never had luck with 60Khz (Saga). Secondly, I couldn't get it working on my iPhone (either on my iPhone 10 or iPhone 12).
I have always used Samsung Galaxy Note 10 or my current Samsung Galaxy S22. It also takes a while to sync, so you have to be patience as it may take around 4 to 6mins sometimes to sync.
You won't hear any sound as such, I usually keep the volume around 80 to 90 percentage. I hope it helps

          • +1

@SteveD: Thanks for that will give it a go

4-6m to sync isn't really practical IMO, could adjust and reset the seconds manually a lot quicker (30s).

            • @G-rig: Hey mate, most of the time it syncs within a minute. Typically the first time around it will take you sometime as you are learning how the app works and if you need to connect earphones speaker or use phone speakers. Once you have worked this out, next time around it will take you less than a minute. But there are times when it takes forever where I have quit and tried the next day and it has synced in less than a minute. I don’t sync my watch everyday, I do once every 6 months or so as they are hardly off (less than 10secs)

The interesting part is I have few radio watches and my citizen watch (nearly 10yrs old) sync automatically once every 3 to 9 weeks. I thought it’s a glitch in the watch. Whilst visiting Japan, I visited Citizen service in Adachi city and I explained them the issue with my watch and I was told that during specific weather pattern, the signal can be accessed in remote parts of the world. When I enquired about why my other watches don’t pick signal but citizen watch does, I was advised that it depended on the individual watch antenna make, setup and antenna attenuation. so looks like I am lucky with my citizen watch.

              • @SteveD: Just get the error message still so won't bother with it. Not a fan of the high pitched sound and shouldn't take so long anyway.

                • +1

@G-rig: I am sorry to hear you were not able to sync. I am not sure if your watch has auto update option, if it does, keep in that mode as you might be able to pick up the JJY signal from Japan like I do, if not there is always the option of setting it manually.

FYI: It's a pity that Australia does not have a radio tower that this purpose currently but long time ago we did have our own radio time signal service called VNG which was shut down by Telstra (partly govt owned) in 1987 due to lack of funding.

                  • +1

@SteveD: No worries mate, I concluded pretty quickly that it's a waste of time and can easily set the time quicker.
Yep, I've turned on auto sync in case :)
                    Bloody Telstra strikes again.
                    Cheers,

Ps. I picked up a GBD200 cheap, mostly for the great display (not interested in the fitness stuff for now given it's a CR2032 and I've got a Fitbit) set it all up but have put it on airplane mode to extend the battery. Stops the BT from trying to sync all the time, and also turned off background data on the phone. Can easily enable every so often to sync. still spot on ;).

                    • +1

@G-rig: GBD200 is a great watch as my wife owns the lime green version of it for a year now. As she was not interested in syncing it to her phone. She wanted to use it as a normal watch and keep an eye on her step count, I did exactly like you by putting the watch in airplane mode to save battery. Funny to see “Great minds think alike”

Whilst setting up her watch I downloaded the app on my phone to sync the time and date and now it is almost a year, her watch is accurate to 1sec, sometimes you wonder about radio watch, do you really need your watch to be accurate to nano second.

BTW I really don’t care about the accuracy, as I love mechanical watches and they are mostly out by 5 to 10 secs a year. I was never into mechanical watch until I inherited my grandpas Seiko automatic watch in 2004, he wore that watch for almost 40yrs.I got it serviced and to this day it is going strong(nearly 60yrs now). Mechanical watches are a totally different breed, if you fall in love with them you can never have enough of them as I own half a dozen of them now 😊😊😊

                      • +1

@SteveD: Sounds good, solid beaters. I wouldn't buy a neg display again but these MIPS ones are brilliant. I wouldn't mind playing around with the tracking a bit more, even turned off auto EL but could probably turn that back on.

May not bother as the tracking is nowhere near as good as a Fitbit (due to accelerometer steps can be counted if you are in the car or cycling I think (?), and wear the Fitbit (Charge 5 or 6) on right hand 24/7 anyway, quite minimal and can still wear Proper watches too ;). Could test out the GBD200 for indoor workouts, without GPS the Fitbit can't upload automatically to Strava.

You'd be very lucky to get 5-10s/year, must be a chronometer, GS or Accutron or something, I'd be happy with 5s a month like the Jet Star. In reality mate, nice automatics would gain 5 to 15 seconds a day easily.

Agree mate, got plenty of autos and solar/quartz now.

  • the 38mm analogue only is the pick at near 100$
