Heartbroken this isn’t available in other states

    • Pulls on my heart strings for you guys!

  • "[…] by offering free, on-the-spot cholesterol and diabetes checks at 12 point-of-care testing stations situated around AFL venues. With just one small finger prick, we can screen for heart health and diabetes, and deliver a result in less than 10 minutes."

From a govt campaign last year:

A Heart Health Check is a 20-minute check-up with your GP to assess your risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years. As part of the check, your doctor will ask you about your lifestyle, medical and family health history. They will also check your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

If you don't know if you're a risk or not, best get an annual medical check up.

If this saves one life it’ll be well worth it. Just hope Port win, that’ll stop me from having ticker issues.

My hopes aren't high, another prime time game under lights. Expect another game with more points than goals.

    • Fixing ramping would probably save one life in SA tomorrow.

      • You mean the same ramping that wasn’t fixed under the previous government?

        • -1

It's as if whatever, or whoever, is standing in the way of fixing the system affects both parties. They all went to the same private schools, they all have the same old mates.

  • Plenty will be getting theirs checked right after realising how much they just paid for a beer

    • I feel like inflation in the pubs have caught up with stadium pricing to be honest. A 525ml full-strength beer at Adelaide Oval is about $11.80 iirc. Sure it's mass market swill rather than craft, but not far off the pubs.

As a vollie ambo this is one of the best things I’ve seen in SA for preventing and identifying heart issues before they arise.

  • +1

Good to see a State government willing to spend money to save money. Prevention is better than a cure.

  • Eligibility:
    -Above 18 years
    -Not pregnant
-Other criteria which most adults will qualify

Not enforced but they do ask to download the SiSU app, which will require you to sign up & store your data. The app doesn’t ask for Medicare details. The people who help with blood test do ask you to visit GP to discuss your test results, which are saved into the app if you have signed up.

Pretty much like a health check at GP.
