Google One Premium to Bundle Nest Aware Coming Soon? or Just Use Apple Homekit Secure Video?

It looks like this has started in the UK, its inventible that other countries will follow, and it makes sense as apple takes this approach. $99.99 per year for the premium 2tb in Aus, which seems like a decent deal if you get nest aware included which currently costs $12 a month, so this bundle makes it worthwhile getting even at Australian prices, I'm guessing our Turkish friends wont get this bundle as they dont have nest aware in Turkey?

If you got the same amount for apple it would cost the same, but the main difference is the google nest doorbell in my opinion is absolutely sublime the video quality/night quality/aspect ratio is fantastic! The homekit aqara doorbell or logitech are average in contrast. I have tried the logitech one with homekit and the google doorbell blows it out of the water, the only advantage I saw was that with the apple watch you can instantly talk to the person and the 2 way audio seemed instant, whereas the 2 way audio on the google doorbell was a touch delayed (not sure if they improved this with updates)

Also I found out you can even get power over ethernet adapters for their outdoor nest cameras.

What are your thoughts? are you going to switch to google doorbells/cameras because of this? anyone planning to switch from apple hksv?

    No, Reolink

    • you use scrypted or something for homekit with the reolink?

      • I use the Reolink app

  • I paid an annual nest aware subscription recently. I wonder whether they will honour a refund if this is the case.

on reddit there are people that got refunds

  • I’m not sure if others care about this. But the main reason I am still with Apple HomeKit secure video, is for the end-to-end encryption it offers.

With the main trade-off on 1080p only and less door bell options that OP has mentioned.

I don’t believe Google has anything similar on this front?

  • Has this rollout started in Australia?
