I got JB Online Sales to price match Appliance Central last Monday( the same model was for $2010 on AC) and paid using discounted gift cards. However still waiting for delivery. Pretty bad experience with Team Global Express and their delivery updates.

    • +1

Yeah. My experience with Team Global Express was terrible for the exact same item. Limited updates, followed up with customer service, they didn’t know where my delivery was, then the item was delivered about 8pm that day after following up.

    • +2

They used to be Toll Global

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/toll-global-expres…

one of the worst reviewed delivery companies in history.

      • Good to know, I’ll be buying in store from know on.

      • Hunter express are the worst by a mile.

However, the TV is much dimmer when watching very bright HDR content for extended periods.

This is the only thing holding me back from switching to OLED.
I think it makes HDR less impactful.
Has anyone had a chance to compare C3 or G3 to a bright mini-led TV?
The only mini-led display I have right now is my Macbook Pro, which is great in every way, and prefer it to my old Qled Samsung TV.

    • +3

I actually prefer decent mini LED panels to OLED, they get noticeably brighter and blooming hasn’t been a major problem. With OLED you have to pay a huge premium, especially if you want quantum dots or MLA panel for increased brightness - and even then it won’t be as bright as mini LED. If you do a side-by-side comparison in a pitch black room with high quality content I think you’ll be able to discern the benefits of OLED though.

      • Any recommendation for an all-rounder mini LED?
The new Sony mini LED is not available, unfortunately.

        • +1

Hisense U8K is a pretty good option, great panel for not too much cash. Sony mini LEDs are great but they’re usually pricier than competitors

          • @Could Be Better: the U8K we have is different to the ones overseas though, right?

          • +1

@Could Be Better: The Australian version is unfortunately not as good as the US version. I'd recommend TCL C845 (or can wait for new range coming out soon) for value option, Sony X95L for the premium.

I don’t have a mini-led tv to compare my G3 to but I struggle to see how anyone would find the G3 not bright enough in all but the most bright rooms (it also has an excellent anti-reflective coating which helps). Everything looks incredible from SDR to HDR content.

Won’t deny that mini-led TVs definitely get brighter but I would personally take the benefits of OLED over increased brightness

      • +1

Same here - I find my C1 too bright even at max cell brightness.
I feel like a lot of people don't have any real life experience with a OLED and just go off "in store" or stuff they've read on the internet

I have an lg 77 inch C3 oled that I bought this Black Friday. I must admit that the lounge room it's in doesn't get a lot of direct sunlight even during the day but the tv is so bright, even when watching HDR, that we have to turn the brightness down or its too bright and harsh on the eyes. We turn it down to 70 or 80 percent depending on the content.

Unless you have a bright room with direct sunlight, I can guarantee you that brightness isn't and won't be an issue.

The biggest consideration is going to be the amount of reflection that you get from the panel. The leds switch off during dark scenes which turns the TV into a mirror. When the screen is black we can see the whole damn living room reflected back at us.

      • Great mirror that you got there! Sorry for the joke but could I ask is it really bothersome when the screen is black? Still deciding between mini led vs oled

        • +1

You need to have the blinds down if you have a window in front of the tv. Or you get reflection which is annoying once you notice it. But the image quality is the best in the market. It's better than miniLED. I spent days staring at both at JB hi fi. Best thing to do is to go in store and decide for yourself.

Then sounds like Oled is not worth the extra outlay especially considering the burn factor . Suppose maybe Oled ok if 1 can afford to replace regularly. Oled for the rich - mini led for the wise ozbargainer . By Oleds then ?

End of so called premium OLED screens !

    • +2

why they shit on miniled so youd expect to pay more?

Willing to drop the 55" to that price and still won't discount the 48", makes no sense.

    • 48" will be on sale at the end.

      • +1

Sorry what do you mean by at the end? Like around march next year when C4 is out?

        • +1

yeah so wait a bit more

        • +1

48" is not a popular model. Maybe they produced less but they will put it on sale at the end.

          • @javawoo: Yeah I suppose they'll eventually have to get rid of the stock lol

  • +4

The 55" C3 was $122 cheaper from catch and 'appliance giant': https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/815079 just one week ago.

Yeah, that's why it literally says in the description…

Not an ATL but much cheaper than other retailers.

Unless you have discovered how to time travel, that doesn't help anyone who wants to purchase a TV in the present moment.

      • I just wanted to let others know what has been a cheap recent price. Even if not all time low it helps understand how much cheaper it could possibly be. Could also help negotiate better price if trying for price beating. Might be worth holding out for few weeks for boxing sales if don't need to buy right now.. it's just information to help the community make their own choices, use it as you will (I didn't beg this deal or say it's not a good deal either) and take it into consideration when relying to comments.

  • I find the Sony A80L a good balance between panel and sound - great all rounder. Had seem some good deals on Gumtree & FB Marketplace recently.

  • Nothing wrong with Molly. Nice name .From memory

I’d wait for the 65’ to get closer to this price in March if you can .
    I think I paid about $2200 for my 65’ C2 earlier this year after returning a 55’ ,
(and their very light tv’s , easily movable)

    • +1

Why’d you return the 55”? I’m tossing up between the two but just can’t imagine having such a big tv in my lounge room (coming from a 40” tv!)

      • 55" is considered small. Even with an old-school small lounge, 40" is "lost" in the room. But everyone expects different things from a TV. If we sit down to watch, we want to get into it.

  • +1

It was replacing a 55’ Sony 4k and didn’t seem like that much of an upgrade without going bigger .
    65’ seems small already ,
shoulda have gone the 77’ ,
but it’s a lot of money for a tv .
Maybe the new mini-led are the go If
    They’re more affordable/last longer .

This is a steal, however clicking the link I dont see this price.
