Compressor dehumidifier. Seems like a good deal and lowest price ever with eBay Plus for the large model. What do you think? Any experiences with this one?
Compared to Ausclimate it's certainly cheaper, but also boasts a much larger 6.5l tank (vs 3.5l on Ausclimate's popular 20l model, 4l on their 25l model, 8l on their 50l model, and a ridiculous flimsy 3l tank on their desiccant dehumidifier). Will probably give it a go.

The seller is "yota_mart" who are apparently the official seller: the search result says "Direct from Advwin", and they have the Advwin logo.

*NOTE: Postage only free to Melbourne and Brisbane. Somewhere around $10 for most other cities. Remote areas are expensive.

    I had an Altisse Omega 20L refrigerant type in SE QLD for a few years and it was really good
    Was putting on while showering and that alone stopped mold growing in a bathroom with no ventilation.
    Also used it while painting the whole place - made the process so much quicker

    I have two delonghi demumidifiers (compressor type) and they are super effective. It's crazy how much water they pull from the air. It makes the room so pleasant and crisp during the wet season.

      What is the capacity (litres per day) and how loud are they, examples are they too loud for a living room, too loud for a bed room while trying to sleep . Where do you have yours located. Thought I might need one as smoke detectors fail prematurely, this apparently is due to excess humidity, but I also wonder if I a portable aircon is better. I live in qld, and an aircon putting out cool air instead of warm air seems like an advantage

        Interesting, first time I hear about smoke detectors. I've been having an issue with 3 detectors going off for no reason - could that also be humidity?

        Delonghi have a range. I have the air purifier model, I now know you can just add the filter to the normal model.

        I think the power draw on dehumidifiers is much lower than an AC but yes, air is warm. AC would be more suitable for warmer climates but I haven't seen one with a spot for an air filter.

    I had the Ausclimate desiccant dehumidifier a year ago. It certainly did work, tank filled within a day. But I sent that one back because I didn't know the desiccant models have such a horrible smell, basically the room smelled worse than before, killing the whole purpose of it ;) Hence on the lookout for a compressor unit now.

  The 25L model works. I have it and have been using it since March 2022 (paid more for it back then too, even with eBay's 20% sales). I can pull out 10L of water in just 10-15 hours especially during a wet and rainy week. Sound-wise, they are quieter than those round fans that I have blowing in the room. I saw this OZB post and just bought a 2nd one as I don't want to keep having to move my dehumidifier between upstairs and downstairs.

  Dehumidifiers are an absolutely incredible thing to own. Ours has been all over the house and now in the car.. we used our Breville unit in our main lounge area, it did OK but wasn't too great (40m2 space with no doors to adjoining rooms) - in combination with a split system it was good. We then moved it to the bathroom and it did superbly well in there. NO mold growth whatsoever and the towel you use and hang up is dry in an hour which was an added bonus - this led to less washing. Now it resides in the car as the sunroof leaked over summer. The car went from foggy windows to clear in an hour and it's been ~20% RH in there since, reminds me that I really need to pull everything out of the car and clean it.

  I've not tested this unit but as a concept / product, I can't stress enough how useful these can be

    The Amazon reviews have a number of failures, and also they only have 3 months warranty. Not that it really does have 3months warranty under Australian law but it shows you how dodgy they company is to dare say 3 months warranty.
    BUT If I were to evaluate the unit with no regard to the dodgey company that imports them I would have also bought one.

    @GrimCheaper (and anyone else who ordered one) - did you end up actually getting it? Mine has been in transit with Aramex since 1 December, it never left the 1st facility in Melbourne. Seller was quick to reply and they're investigating what happened.

      Yep, I got it no problems. Took about a week. Aramex are absolutely horendous and I've had many issues with them in the past. If there is a slight sign of delay or trouble with them then I doubt you will get your item - at least not in one piece.
      As for the unit itself, it's loud and blows out hot air when the de-humidifer mode is on so we just use it as a fancy fan at the moment.
      But it does fill the tank full of water each day so it's obviously doing it's job.
      I would not buy this thing again - an oscillating fan could have suited my needs better.

        Thanks, helpful stuff. That sounds like the unit is both doing a good job and a bad job ;) I guess for almost half of the price of a comparable Ausclimate dehumidifier it sounds reasonable. Afaik all dehumidifiers tend to heat the room.
