Tidal HiFi Family (6 Users) Monthly Arg$145 (~A$0.65, New Account Only, VPN to Argentina Required) @ Tidal

770

Although prices meant to go up on August 1. They did and now there not. Maybe it's a price error? That's why I am reposting the previous deal, I got the ok from mods to repost.

Tidal Family Hifi (6 Users) - $0.65 a month Note: There isn't a 12 month option. So you will pay month to month, price will change depending on the currency rate.

Note: This works for new accounts only. Make a new account with a different email.

1. Turn on VPN to Argentina. (Use Tunnel Bear, PIA, Surfshark, Urban VPN etc)
2. Click on Ozbargain link. Single user plan top of page, Family Plans scroll down. Choose Hifi
3. Ensure pricing shows ARS currency. If not, retry or try a different VPN. (Important)
4. Click through the registration process on the plan you want. Note: If it shows $145 in the later steps don't worry, the system means ARS 145.
5. Turn off VPN on Credit Card page as payment will not go through with VPN on. (Important)
5. Mastercard works fine. Visa Credit Card's don't work. See below for other Credit Card options.
6. After sign up, verify your email address (email will be in Spanish).
7. You no longer need the VPN and can use Tidal on any device normally.

Important Family Sharing Tip: When you invite “family” members to your Family Tidal plan via a link you email them, they MUST initially click through and register using VPN to Argentina for their confirmation or else they will get rejected. After confirmation, they can then use Tidal without VPN on any device.
Update: “Unless you add a family member, your plan will automatically revert to Individual on the next billing cycle.”

MORE DETAILS SECTION:

  1. If you use NordVPN, it doesn't correctly connect to Argentina and fails to show ARS currency. Use Tunnel Bear VPN instead.
  2. VISA Credit Card seems to not work. Verified working credit cards are Mastercard, 28 degrees Latitude, Coles Credit Card, Pre-Paid Mastercard from AusPost plus some other brands of cards, see comments.

Just got charged for first time (since last post) and it was 83 cents. Works just as good (if not better) than apple music which wanted >$18 per month for same thing!

    • +1

Wow really? Do they have just as much songs on there? Never used them before.

      • +1

When I migrated my spotify playlists to tidal a couple years ago maybe 20 of the 1200 or so songs I had in playlists were missing. YMMV based on what you listen to, but most stuff will be on there.

        • Yeah depends on the genre and even the language of tunes you listen to. But Spotify and Apple Music have a much larger and extensive library compared to Tidal.

      • Yeah, most albums i listened to on apple music are there, maybe 1 out of 50 is missing.

    • Tried this before, won't work with Alexa

      • meh. I don't think SQ is number one if you are listening to it on those small wifi speakers like Alexa and nest audio. The commands work fine in the car with BT I've found.

    HiFi Family

    Hi 5?

    • +2

      HiFi ve jv

    • Is their back catalogue on Tidal?

      • Pretty sure there won't be a front catalogue anywhere ;)

  • +2

Creating Tidal accounts in Argentina is the tricky part, they can detect whether you're using a VPN and an error will pop saying Tidal is not available in your country. The family accounts you're trying to link will need to also created in Argentina. I imagine payment would equally be as painful.

    • So is there a way around this? How do people create accounts using VPN?

  • +7

Price recently increased to 589 ARS for me. Was previously ~80 cents a month, now ~$2.60.

    Still an absolute bargain.

Hello, Starting on your next billing date of 08.15.2023, your HiFi Family subscription will automatically renew at the new monthly price of $589.00. We're making this change to our HiFi Family subscription so we can continue to bring new features to music lovers and fans like you, and to continue paying artists the best rates per stream, despite increasing licensing costs. You can modify or cancel your subscription at the address: account.tidal.com.

    • yeah that's true, but if you go into your account now for your subscription, it has reverted to 225 for next month.

      • Wow, it's saying it's reverting back to 145 for the September billing month for me. Very strange.

        • paying artists the best rates per stream

  • not available in your country- using pure vpn

    • I cancelled my pure. Not often landing in correct country. Usually trying Turkey but showing as russia or Uk. Got HMA now. Haven’t tried this though. Got Spotify and YouTube music. Don’t need more subs.

  • Early this month the subs plan updated to 589 on my account. But now it’s changed to 145. Hope it will stay this price as my billing cycle is on 28 August

    • Me, too. Will be a pleasant surprise if it reverts. If it was a mistake, do I get a credit?:)

  • How is Tidal for podcasts?

    • doesn’t have em

    • Tidal's for the best music experience, not gonna find easy listening podcasts, don't need top audio quality for those

  • Sorry! Unfortunately, TIDAL is not available in your country yet. Follow @TIDAL on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to stay up-to-date on availability announcements. Connected to Ciudad: Buenos Aires using TunnelBear!

      Just use Brazil.

      • +1

Price changes to $10.99 / month + applicable sales tax

        • +1

Dunno mine is always $2 or something
          Just checked, $1.23.

        • hmm maybe it is argentina, $225/month Hi-Fi plus family.
and the email is in spanish :).
Just make sure your VPN is on and working i guess.

        • The title should have said 225 not 145 but looks like it's expired anyway.

  • +1

Do they pay the artists in Argentinian too?

    • +1

I believe it's something like that. They get less per listen in any case.

      • Oh well, i guess people living this cheap are unlikely to support the artists elsewhere anyway. Could be wrong

        • +4

I buy records, go to live shows and buy merch. If I have a choice between paying less to stream music, I'll take it.

          • +1

            @larrylemon: Good on you

          • @larrylemon: What's the last record you bought? I saw Marc Ribellet on his AU tour - pretty mental :P

Got my fair share of original CDs in boxes, which i backed up to FLAC. Still enjoy playing them when I'm sick of streaming.

Interesting to know that CD is still the best format.

        • +1

brave comment on a bargain site

  • +1

They charged me around $2.60 a few days ago. Used to be less than half.

  • +1

    Working with HMA

  • +1

Are there many advantages compared to having YouTube Premium deal, which comes with YouTube music ?

    • +7

If you care about lossless audio quality then YouTube music can't compare.

      • +1

Just make sure you are listening through a wired connection (to speakers/headphones) if you are using lossless.

I see plenty of people paying extra for lossless and then using Bluetooth lol

        • +2

Whilst mine are corded, I think that's fair. There are other considerations than just quality

Eg: I use my phone (v30+) instead of a DAC, and lossy material (v0 MP3) because I'm against bulk and wanted a big library (tho these days I stream). Yet I have $1200 canalphones. You can hear a big difference even if the chain is not perfect.

          • +1

@justtoreply: You are introducing more artefacts and commission with Bluetooth (even AptXHD) than 320kbps lossy, especially if it's AAC rather than MP3

            • +1

@Wolfenstein98k: Yeah but number 1 rule is whatever you do has to fit your lifestyle or it doesn't get used. Heaps of people want to use their BT headphones. It just suits them. They can probably hear a difference with tidal even if imperfect.. if it works for them, leave them to it. It can be better without needing to be perfect.

Now if you could scientifically prove it didn't make it better, then yeah fine

              • +1

@justtoreply: Yep. At least 50% of my music listening time is in the car, and Tidal not being properly integrated with Google Assistant/Android Auto means it's a non-starter vs YT/Spotify in that situation. As a result I haven't used Tidal since the day I signed up and tested it out, despite it certainly sounding nicer when I did.

                • +1

@kaneoriley: I've had tidal for 2 years, and for most of the first year Tidal was fine when getting in the car and connecting to bluetooth and playing music. Then an update occurred, and since then it's terrible. I set up tasker to get it working but it was a bit messy and not ideal. Spotify is much easier for the car.

                  • +1

@bohn: Yeah I think it worked once to autoplay what I had been listening to before I got in the car, but it has never worked when I tried to ask assistant to "play (song/artist) on tidal" which is my main use case, so I gave up.

When they add support to set Tidal as the default in Assistant, and it actually works with voice commands, I'll give it another go.

    • I signed up for a trial on HiFi as I was curious to see how it casts from my Android phone to Sonos. On YouTube Premium I can't do this from the YouTube Music app. Tidal can cast from my Android phone to Sonos and the quality is definitely better than YouTube Music. Tidal app did NOT play along with the casting too well though. It freezes at times and when I skip a song (hit Next), it sometimes take a while to play the next song. Sometimes when I hit Next, it continues to cast the currently playing song to Sonos and plays the next song on the phone speaker. The app definitely needs some work and not worth it for me with those issues.

      • The app definitely needs some work and not worth it for me with those issues.

yeah app is shit for me in the car also, just annoying

      • Yeah I cast to raspberry pi running volumio, brilliant. Gapless playback is worth a lot to me and the reason I retired the Chromecast Audio anyway.

It's just a different interface that people aren't used to, and works differently by but good when you know.

  • +1

Got charged $0.65c last month when my trial ended. Single user here.

  • +2

It's definitely gone up. I was just charged ~$2.60 for single plan today

    • i got charged ARS380 two days ago …AUD 1.71

  • +2

Been using this for a few years and it's great. Desktop, on my NAD for home stereo, laptops… LG no longer make mobile phones with good DACs so little point having it on my phone, just use Youtube Music.

    • +4

Rip LG :/ with them and Xperia not being an option, phones now suck

Why I can't have a good camera, 3.5mm, SD card, DAC in a modern phone… Not acceptable. Screw Google and apple

      • exactly. i absolutely agree with you… feel the same way.
        there's no excuse not to.

    • +1

yes, great using for PC as source setup - Get the Tidal Desktop App, can do MQA passthrough/ exclusive mode if you DAC supports that (not interested in an MQA debate) and easy to cast to devices, like my other setup (Raspberry Pi 4 with Volumio -> DAC -> active monitors :).

I use it on the phone as well - Daily discovery is cool and the Ai algorithm suggests a lot of similar music over time. I hardly ever use YT music but moreso videos with the screen off.

  • +1

Made an account before and was successful for payments until recently. Mastercard doesn't seem to work anymore and revolut payments are reverted even with VPN.

    • Did you end up finding one that works? I have a similar issue - my Citibank Mastercard works (need to cancel this soon to avoid annual fee) but my HSBC Mastercard won’t. It’s really annoying because I’ve emailed both tidal and contacted HSBC and both say it should work.

  • +1

How are you meant to add a family to an account?

  • +1

They did raise the price, it went up to about $4 a month for me but I cancelled it and renewed it a week later at the lower price.

  • +1

    Do Tidal do podcasts?

  • +1

Click through working ok on CyberGhost vpn. Not bothered to sign up myself though.

ARS570 looks to be the HiFi plus single user cost at $2.55 ish.

  • +1

Hifi plus family price ARS899. AUD 3.96. Debited 17/08/2023.

    • +1

Yes. Me too with AUD 3.94 charged via 28degrees. However, I just checked my subscription. The price dropped down to $225 for September for me. So please check yours. I believe this is the Hifi Plus family monthly price so dearer than the titled $145. But anyway it means Tidal reverted the price.

      • +1

Yeah. you are right. price changed back….. confused..
        Price
        $225 / month

  • +1

I've definitely seen more confusing deals in my life but this one is up there…

    Is family 145, 589, or 899?
Certainly showing as 145 when I go to sign up.

    • 225 pesos for Family Hi-Fi, price dropped automatically. Sweet.
Already signed up last time this deal was on.

      • +1

Yep, mine too, even though on front plan page it says 145.

  • +2

    German music is my favourite

    • +2

      Eine kleine Nachtmusik?

    • Rammstein is one of my favourite artists. ever since du hast, engel, ich will - i have become their eternal fan

  • +1

Anyone using this got details on how the https://tidal.com/plans/family "Clean & child-friendly content. Listen to profanity-free playlists, and explore our collections of content for kids." works? Have pulled spotify family but the kids app was great, looking for a reasonable alternative.

  • +1

I thought a month ago I signed up for a Family plan but noticed that it the current plan is now Individual for $570. So I changed it to the Family plan which is currently $225 and noticed a fine print at the top of the page:

“Unless you add a family member, your plan will automatically revert to Individual on the next billing cycle.”

    • +1

Can confirm the price dropped back to $225 for HiFi Plus Family. But I don't have that fine print because I have other members under this plan.

      • +1

Yeah, I didn’t bother adding the family members yet as I was still trialing the service. Currently they are happily using YouTube Music and don’t hear the difference in higher lossless quality on Tidal anyway. Neither can I to be honest.

        • +1

          Ha YouTube music..
I only use some of those stations on a nest audio speaker etc. Any half decent headphones or speakers clearly benefit from the sound quality. But hey, good if they are happy with what they are using (and it's sometimes hard to convince people to bother).

    • +1

Yep get the same prices changing to Family HiFi Plus of $225. But when I go to Payment it says next payment of $380? I guess cheaper than the Individual $570

Edit. To overcome the message about adding a family member or reverting back to individual, I just invited/added another of my many email addresses.

  • +1

Someone invite me to their family. Pm.

  • +1

Thanks. Tried last time with like 4 different VPNs and no luck. Finally had success today with HMA.

  • +1

They started changing me. 3.8$ for HiFi plus, I am also on Argentina's plan. How is that possible? 😂

    • +2

Ok. What the hell. Individual HiFi plus is 570$ and family is 255$.

      • +1

Ok I switched to HiFi Plus family and it was a breeze. Even better. Thanks Op

  • +1

So are the family accounts just profiles on your main account, or it has to be a separate email account?

  • +2

    Take note:

Unless you add a family member, your plan will automatically revert to Individual on the next billing cycle.

  • +1

TunnelBear doesn't work btw, hasn't since the last deal.

    • +1

      Try free Urban VPN.

      • +1

Doesn't work either, "Argentina" server is in the US.

        • +2

Urban VPN extension on firefox just worked for me. Both Tunnelbear and HMA didn't work.

          • +1

@Phesto: Weird, maybe I'm just unlucky. I've got the plan already, just need to add more accounts to it and that's proving difficult.

          • +1

@Phesto: Exactly what I did. It works well.

            • +1

@Scrooge McDeal: Worked on the Android app after quite a few attempts but not the browser extension for whatever reason. Thanks for the post!

          • +1

@Phesto: How did you get urban to work? I tried it in firefox (previous arg sub) and didn't go through.

            • +1

@azureo: Nothing special, just downloaded the extension and followed OP's steps, I didn't have a prior subscription though so maybe that changes things?
