does OW pricematch Catch with no issues? or need to show you have onepass ?

    • Depends on which Rep you get.

      • All OW stores should be able to Price match them, it says they are an authorised reseller and its being sold directly by Catch.

    • Why not PM at JB? Easier and you can use those 10% off GC.

      • +12

because unlike OW, PM at JB is a massive pain in the arse.

It depends on the store, the sale individual, the weather, the moon, the star. etc.

        • +2

well, not sure if you have heard about their PM via online chat. No need to visit a store. I've price matched many times using this way despite being refused in store.

        • +1

Took me 5 mins via their online chat. They provide you a unique url to purchase the product at the matched price.

      • What 10% gc?

      • Where do you get 10% off JB gift cards?

I bought the from the Amazon deal to replace my Pro 1st gen.

The 2 things I notice, and recommend over the 1st gen are - noise cancellation is noticeably better, and the ability to charge from my watch charger is actually cool. Overall if my 1st gens hadn't had the noise crackling issue (which apple replaced for me after I had them for over 2 years, and then I sold to get money for these), it probably still isn't worth upgrading from v1 to v2 unless you've got loads of money. If you don't have airpods already and are in the apple eco system, then they are definitely a great set of earbuds.

    • +2

the ability to use FIND MY while the airpods are in the case is my #1 reason to upgrade from gen1 to gen2.

and the H2 chip made a huge difference for sound quality, noise cancelling and connectivity (I am swapping between 4 devices).

it's definitely a worthwhile upgrade (esp when you can sell your old airpods pro for around ~$200)

      • +3

you sold them for $200?? Nice

I found the connectivity between my devices exactly the same, never had an issue with the v1. Sound quality isn't much different to me, but I'm not at all and audiophile.
I never lost the case, so that wasn't a purchasing choice for me.

        • my biggest unhappiness with the AP2 is actually the sound quality, i find that the EQ for rock songs aren't that great. my old galaxy earbuds play smells like teen spirit much better than my current AP2. Some of the old greenday stuff just comes out weak

It sounds great for EDM and other genres, don't really have any complaints in that department.

          • +1

@Ghosteye: For me the H2 chip improves the adaptive EQ (i liked it in gen 1, i liked it even more now). Some people thinks adaptive EQ is just a marketing gimmick, personally i think it made a huge difference.

The other thing is your music source. Apple music sounded a lot sweeter than spotify (i am a spotify user with Apple Music trial), especially if spatial audio is your thing.

and yep like everyone else, I am upset about the lack of lossless audio support. But for $350-400, these are pretty good.

          • +1

@Ghosteye: I find the 2nd gen is greatly superior in sound quality than the AP1. Maybe it‘s just my pair but I find the 1st gen sound too tinny, I kind of regret getting them. The 2nd gen give a fuller sound and they actually have bass unlike the 1st gen!!

Overall, I am happy with my AP2. Their SQ is OK for a pair of wireless earphones (which is a major improvement over their predecessor) and they now finally can justify their asking price.

      • +1

Yeah I’m thinking of selling my version 1 and getting these new ones. My version 1s just got replaced a few ago as they had a few issues. Hmmm I think I’ll do it.

      • +2

People would buy a pair of used, superseded earphones for ~$200?! Where??

        • Fb marketplace.

    • Did apple replace them FOC after 2 years?
Just wondering what the warranty service is like, and if I should be bothered to get Apple care for the AirPods?

      • +1

I had the ones that had a known issue with crackling. I had only started to notice it a few weeks ago so went to apple to check. They did a test, and told me both my airpods failed and they replaced them free of charge. I bought them about 2.5 years ago. For any normal issue I don't think they would have replaced them.
Personally I never had Apple care for Airpods, but I do have it for my iphone

  • Costco online is $359.99 including delivery. But onsite it is even cheaper.
    https://www.costco.com.au/Smart-TVs-Audio-Cameras/Headphones…

    • But onsite it is even cheaper.

      How much?

    • Does OW price match Costco?

      • -3

Never. Imagine you need $59 a year to shop at any Officeworks

      • They do
Read through here others have had success price matching with Costco https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/726570

      • +1

I bought these from OW over the phone and not only did they beat Costco, they did so even though Costco was OOS at the time.

    • Costco is also $359.99 onsite (bought a couple days ago)

      • +1

Yup that’s what I thought. Most of these Apple products are same price in-store at Costco

        • Sometimes it is $10-15 cheaper depending on the product. I think they factor in delivery for online item which says price includes delivery

          • @AirJordan23: Yeah that’s what I thought at first that online price would be higher, but the price of these and Airtags is same online and in-store.

  • +1

For those that need an Apple 20W charger to charge the AirPods, Amazon are price matching Catch at $25.20

I bought mine from the Amazon $319 deal and have had them for 5 days and I'm struggling badly with ear pain, doesn't matter what tip I try? anyone got any recommendations for new tips? or should I keep persevering with silicon?

These are the first earpods I have owned

    • +1

I also find them quite painful

    • Stick with it, they hurt my ears like hell and now they are fine, the still fit terribly but i can wear them for hours without any pain.

    • +2

If it’s the tips that hurt you can try memory foam tips like comply

    • Do second party ear tips work on these?

I used another in ear (Jabra) and had ear pain for a long time but then I switched to extra small and can wear them all day now, I can even use small or medium since my ears are used to it (I wear these all day at work)

So I think you should try a smaller size,

    • I usually swap them for memory foam tips instead

  • +1

    The bar is 319

    • If you can get JB to price match it from Wednesday onwards, you can stack it with the upcoming Ultimate gift cards deal (bonus 1,000 flybuys points on $50 or $100 Ultimate gc) from Coles, as hinted initially from dealbot. It should bring it down to ~$334 ($369 less ~10% equivalent value from Ultimate deal)

Hopefully the Catch promo doesn’t end early. It should be part of their birthday sale (2-6 Oct). Still not as good as the Amazon deal but it’s the best option currently

  • How does AirPods Pro 2nd Gen compare to the regular AirPods 3rd generation?

Fit and comfort wearing for long periods

  • How are the 2nd on job sites? Loud noise, I know they are absolutely not rated for it, but earplugs doesn't have pass thru function which is actually rally useful on site.
I tried the xm4 didn't really like them, wonder if any one has this application in mind

    • +1

I'd recommend getting something that's fit for purpose like the 3M WorkTunes:
      https://www.amazon.com.au/3M-WorkTunes-Protector-Technology-…

If that model doesn't suit I'm sure there's other similar options out there.

Definitely don't use earbuds as a substitute for proper hearing protection!

      • +1

Yes, get the 3M for hearing protection, they are great. Noise cancellation is not a substitute.

    • Check out MKBHD’s review on YouTube - he talks about this exact scenario.

Amazon has price matched Catch! https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BDKGNMDJ

    • Price match with Costco for even better saving

  • OW initially was going to include Catch shipping then the discount so I showed them Amazon and they did $350.55

  • Tried to PM at Officeworks Punchbowl but they refused. Said that Catch was part of their company line.

    • OW would be able to price beat Amazon listing. They’re the same price @ $369
