I still have my EBGames 25% off PS subscription i have not used yet. Might grab this and then add the other on and make it two years worth :D

  • Impressive price to bad it's not a stackable one

  • I think this is the first time I've seen one of these PS+ offers not be stackable on top of an existing subscription. Is this limitation actually new? Or have they done it before?

    • They do this regularly

      • (profanity) all it is is stopping you from making an earlier cheaper purchase and hoping when your sub runs out it's only full price available.

  • Does any one know if Jb or EB will pricematch this or have price matched similar online offers ?

    • it is highly unlikely

Is PS+ worth it? What advantages do you get besides the free games per month and playing online?

PS: Kind of sucks that online is now pay to play, PC games don't have to pay for online and also have fairly stable servers. Eg: Monster Hunter World

    • Other than what you mentioned, nothing. PS4 has amazing single player exclusives anyway like Spiderman and God Of War so I stuck to that rather than play online games.

    • At least Sony have only started charging for online gaming this generation and not previously.
At "sale" periods at the PS Store, PS+ members are also offer extra percentages off already on sale games/add-ons, etc at times.

Discounts on games on top of sales.

      Shareplay benefits

      Cloud storage for saved games

      Auto update games

Themes, avatars and bonus on games.

Sometimes you can be lucky and get gifts such as 3 months of Netflix.

    • Cloud saves are nice to have to.

Need + to create one, then can recover it even without it.

      • When would you use this? When you buy a new PS4?

I thought save games aren't that big and you can store them all locally

        • You can copy them locally to USB drives etc. Generally a save file seems to be about 10MB. That said, there are games like Driveclub which stores Replay and Ghost data for your races which is hundreds of MB.

It is annoying when you know you have save files in the cloud but have let your subscription lapse; it feels like paying a ransom to get them back.

Are you sure about that? It wasn't possible when mine ran out in the past.

        • Yeah I've had cloud saves wiped when the subscription lapsed. Couldn't recover it by renewing. I think they leave it for a while before wiping it. Don't know why they're so stingy with small amounts of data these days.

@gnarkill: Yeah it's supposed to be 6 months before you lose your save files. But I'm pretty sure you can't download them without an active subscription.

I find it pretty much pays for itself over the course of the year just from the discounts you get. Sales on PS Store often have greater discounts if you're a PS+ subscriber.

Cloud saves are good, too, if you don't back up your console to usb regularly.

    • After March I believe the PS3 titles will be replaced with PS4 offerings

I was stubbornly against paying for PS+ when the PS4 came out. Now I hate to admit it but it's excellent value these days. the free games I've received off of there has loaded my library with content and the ps+ monthly discounts/deals are where the real value is had. The sub has paid itself off and I don't even play multiplayer!

I recommend pay cheap 12 monthes and don't look back. Just keep an eye out each month fir deals on games you want.

Same here. Overall it is worth it.

The only negative comment I would make is that customer support from Sony is overall bad If there becomes an issue with your account.

My PS+ account was blocked after a technical problem with an offer and they effectively hold you to a ransom until you pay. I even had to purchase a physical Sony gift card, scan it and email them in order to reactivate my account which already had a 12 months subscription paid for!

After several emails and phone calls it was eventually reactivated and without an apology. Basically they assume you are a criminal/scammer until you prove you are not. I think the reason for poor the poor customer service is the PS Plus people are in the UK

  • Renewed mine yesterday for $79 annually,
