I haven't been back to Selwyn since the 2019 bushfire, but it was great for the kids.
Small resort, but a lovely day out.

The queues for the chairlift don't seem too bad at the moment…

Does this mean if I stand by the entrance I might actually lay my eyes on the elusive JV?

      • +1

        Why elusive?

  • when does it expire? it doesn't say 2024 lift ticket

    • It had more info on the cardboard thing at Crossroads.

Wish perisher had this kind of pricing. $200+ (from memory) a day is crazy

    • I know!! Highly contemplating going to Selwyn with the Costco tickets. I've always gone to Perisher/Thredbo so have no idea how good Selwyn is.

Family of 4 to Selwyn is almost 1 x Perisher 1 day pass ($226 online/$249 on the day).

Selwyn is definitely family orientated. If going with young kids or you are a first timer it's great. If you are used to the runs at Perisher and Thredbo you will likely be disappointed. The runs are very tame and short. Think of Smiggins.

      • the only risk with Selwyn is a smaller resort and also if it doesn't get a good dump this year, you'll definitely won't be going there period and going back to costco for a refund which i think if you can, then thats ok.

i think last year they only had 1 run and if you read the google reviews it wasn't exactly nice going there

        • Costco has an amazing refund policy.
I would definitely ask for a refund if I didn't go.
Also, yes, Selwyn is great for first timer, not so much if you're looking for long runs.

    • NSW resorts are a rort. Victoria are like half that

  • Where do people (who have been to Selwyn) stay overnight? It seems to be about 2.5 hours from Canberra and 2.5 hours from Jindabyne, so presumably either people doing long drives each day or staying at the smaller places that are closer?

    • We stayed at Cooma when we were last there.

    • Depending on weather and traffic, under 1.5hrs from Cooma and <2hrs from Jindabyne which has a range of accommodation. You (generally) want to book early for most in peak season - esp school hols of course - as Jindabyne serves the bigger resorts to the west, Thredbo, Perisher. Adaminaby and Beridale (very small) are probably already booked. Don't forget that you should carry chains if driving to Selwyn and there are park entry fees.

Adaminaby. There are also places available right on Lake Eucumbene off Snowy Mtns Hwy - very nice.

      • I stayed there too.
        Great pub in town.

  • Does anyone know if these are still available? Might join up and buy to take the kids for a day.
