Doing our seasonal culls so we have a bunch of interestingly coloured shrimp we are selling as ghosts! Just letting you guys know :)

These Freshwater Dwarf Shrimp are a great addition to your clean-up crew.
The Neocaridina family being one of the hardiest dwarf shrimp out there, they can survive temperatures as low as 15C up to 30C but thrive and breed readily between 21 and 26 Degrees.

Dwarf Shrimp are scavengers. They eat algae, bacteria and other microorganisms around the tank, and will never attack other live animals. They have a minimum bio-load and are a great addition to almost any tank's ecosystem!

Keeping with fish:
The general rule for all aquatic life is "if it fits in their mouth they will eat it." Unless you have specifically passive or vegetarian fish, shrimp may be eaten by any fish which is large enough to swallow one hole. Adult shrimp grow to 2cm in length, with juveniles being at least 1cm. Conversely, any smaller fish will live with them very happily. They may eat the baby shrimp if they breed, but if you have enough plant cover, usually enough survive to keep the colony going.

    Just wondering how you ship live aquarium animals, and which courier you use for it?

      most people just put them in express post, yes auspost doesn't allow live animals but they if they don't ask you don't tell.

      Or you can use toll and startrack if you have business accounts.

          So the thing with this is they can't allow them for liability reasons, but they have no issue sending them as long as they are not responsible for them.

          We've found that they are by far the most reliable even if they don't officially allow it though.

                  @Thrift: Yeah, so they cannot not have them on the prohibited item list, because if they did not people could ask for insurance money (or at the very least they would get more calls about it) if they died intransit. But they have no reason not to allow them other than that, so they don't care. As I said before, as long as they are well packaged I've found Auspost the more reliable courier service.

          Auspost still does not allow live animals. Regardless, of the 10 times I've bought fish online, I'd say 50% were by auspost express, 2 by startrack, 2 by toll and 1 by some dude (I have no idea who, but had no connote on the package, shipped from Melbourne to Sydney).

          My most recent purchase was from Brisbane to Sydney last week, shipped via Auspost express, packaged in a live fish/seafood foam box, with fragile stickers all over lol. Postie didn't care, left the box in the full sun vertically. But if I am receiving fish I always make sure there is someone at home to take the box in.

            @azukay: Yes I won't trust them with anything live, fragile, expensive, urgent and most things that actually needs to be delivered.

      We use breather bags that oxegenates the water (lets oxygen through but not water) sealed with a bunch of water.
