Terrible decision to go EV shopping and write Tesla off before you even start.

Don't let your politics get in the way of making a good purchasing decision.

      • it isn't politics even, it's build quality, design, and interior, also future doesn't feel solid with a person like EM at the top.

        • +1

Yep. Ignoring the politics, the design and build quality is pretty shambolic.

          • @Brick Tamland: why would I even look at teslas at this price if quality isn't far off something like BYD

at this price I'd better be looking at EVs built by, you know, experienced car manufacturers. they may not be as efficient or fast, but at least they have been built to code, and supported by companies that are here to stay, as opposed to EM who shakes his businesses whenever he runs out of smoking material every now and then

            • +3

@shabaka: You seem to be basing your view of Tesla cars on the opinions and the anti-ev and anti-Tesla propaganda

I’d recommend you still go test drive a Tesla and see for yourself

The build quality of Teslas is now very good and has been since we’ve been getting the Chinese built models

The real reason people buy Tesla is because the technology and driving experience is phenomenal for the money. People aren’t buying these because of the brand. They are buying them because the cars are amazingly good

              • -2

@choofa: says who I never drove one? I have friends who have 3 and Y, and I took both for a spin, and I wasn't impressed. interior, comfort, equipment, handling, nothing impressed me.

recently I had BMW i4 for a week and oh boy, it's a delight to drive. Tesla is just a silly toy compared to this.

but each to their own. I don't care about any anti-Tesla or anti-EV sentiments, I am basing my view on product quality and experience alone.

                • +1

@shabaka: Fair enough. I’d hate to think people who want EVs would let politics get in the way of even trying a Tesla.

            • -1

              @shabaka:

why would I even look at teslas at this price if quality isn't far off something like BYD

Exactly right. When Tesla opened their China factory, Tesla demanded that parts from suppliers in China had to be a certain quality (higher quality then what they were making before). So now all the other Chinese manufacturers are using the same higher quality parts in their cars.

                • @Binchicken22: But the benefits have been mutual; China has gained a lot from Tesla as well. The company has been responsible for imposing the “catfish effect” on the Chinese EV industry—meaning it’s forced Chinese brands to innovate and try to catch up with Tesla in everything from technology advancement to affordability. And now, even Tesla needs to figure out how to continue being competitive in China because domestic brands are coming at it hard.

Awww got neg by the fan boys. Tesla is great blah blah blah 82,000 is chump change soooooo cheap blah blah blah. Please upvote me now!!!

Remember when OzBargain posted bargains rather than Tesla's, LP's and movies appearing on Prime? Jeez they were good days.. halcyon days even.

    • -1

Boo hoo, just filter out whatever bothers you, clearly there's an audience for this

  • This appears to be list price, not a specifically discounted price.

    • -1

Prices don't have to be discounted to be bargain.

  • Ah the fanbois v haters saga. Doing the lord's work and keeping the name of tesla in the limelight. Elon must be proud of his children, ruffling so many feathers

My M3P is just over 2y old now and if I were to buy again I'd go for the M3LR.
Firstly, my insurance premiums have gone up quite a lot over the 2 years, and I've found many insurers simply do not insure the M3P (they only insure the others).
Secondly, when I originally purchased it, the range difference between LR and P wasn't that large, but now there's over 100KM.
Finally, the 0-100 time and higher top speed are unnecessary for me.

  • How do these qualify as deals? From the FAQ:

Is this really the best price on the web?

It's a fixed priced product available from only 1 seller. If every price reduction was a deal any Woolies/Coles' price drop item would qualify.

  • While I think this is a huge upgrade and great pricing (compared to the previous Performance model) how on earth is it a bargain? I get the RWD and LR posts as they were actual price drops but this is the RRP from the one place selling it!

Does anything go for deals now? Maybe the MG4 XPower for its value-to-performance ratio @$60K or the BYD Seal Performance which has stalks @$73K.

    • -2

And yet you say it’s a good price, neg it and have a rant lol

      • Common sense would tell you (if you used some) that a good price does not = a bargain!

Comprehending things also goes a long way because I literally stated this…..the first time.

        LOL!!!

        • Show me where you can find this cheaper lol
You admit this is a “great price”
It doesn’t have to be a bargain just because it’s ozbargain. It just has to be a good deal

          Which this absolutely is!

An $80k supercar is a very good deal

          Definitely not worth negging

          • -1

@choofa: As I said, MG4 XPower is $60K and the BYD Seal Performance is $72K. $25K and $13K cheaper respectively and equals better performance per dollar so no, it’s not a deal, it’s literally the RRP.

We’ll agree to disagree though because this will just be a carousel.

        • +1

Common sense would tell you (if you used some) that a good price does not = a bargain!

That is literally what makes something a bargain lol.

          • @Nillionaire: I don’t think you know what literally means if that’s your take on it!

Well priced and bargain are not synonymous…LOL.

    • Because not all of us believe in "RRP can't be bargain".

      • It’s priced exactly how it should be. Everyone’s seeing it as a bargain because of how much it’s priced under the previous model and people were expecting this to be $100K+.

Because that’s what people expect doesn’t make it a bargain, it just means Elon woke up to all the negativity, sales decline and stock values diminishing and really has no choice.

Something being overinflated in the first place doesn’t mage it a bargain when it’s priced normally!

  • 460 horsepower and 0-100 km/h

It’s is agreed by most Australians and the world that Tesla makes the best and greatest EVs in history.

People may neg it because only the rich and well off can afford them, but I’m sure many have build your dream in the scrapyard lol

    • I can afford it, but won't buy it, quality just isn't there. I'd rather add a bit more and get a BMW or MB EV..

    • And how did you come to the conclusion of “most Australian’s and the world agree”? Did Elon tell you this?

      • -2

The fact is that the Tesla model y is the worlds best selling car

    • Nissan Leaf is a far better machine

      • Said no rational person ever!

        • We will see when Tesla's are running the same age as the Leaf's. Matt Watsons review on it suggested the Leaf was a really great car and built exceptionally well

          • @Brick Tamland: Sure the leaf was way ahead of its time
But to suggest it’s a better machine than a Tesla is big stretch
I’m thinking you probably haven’t driven either of them

            • +1

@choofa: The only problem with the leaf was the air-cooled batts.

  • +2

Why would a promo of Tesla rrp be a deal?

  • I'll stick to my old Toyota. Only takes an extra 2 seconds to reach 100km/h and for a quarter of the price.

    7 year old Model S.

Real life range when new 340km
    Real life current range 330km

    Still crazy fun to drive.
Supercharger network an absolute game changer for long distance travel. Multiple chargers in multiple locations, always in working order.

Haters have no response to the above 'cause for some reason they choose to believe/parrot the FUD over the real life experiences of actual EV drivers.

Not a bargain. Just full price.
