One of the better colourways for sure

Cool watch with cool display. I have the blue one.

Same module as the one posted yesterday (BT and fitness stuff) but I prefer square g-shocks.

    This is a great deal.

    • How is the fitness and Bluetooth stuff compare to other low end smart watches?

      • +1

Nfi, I've only synced it once to set the time. There's lots of info in the other post. Sorry can't link, the internet is garbage where I am and even worse with a vpn

  • Also available for $127 from a different seller:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B098T1KYDN/

    • I did see that on 3 camels but that price is from a new seller so I didn't want to mention it in the post.

The watch has a fantastically clear and readable display - but for some stupid reason the software will not let you switch the date to DD/MM, you're stuck with the backwards MM/DD. Even Casio's from 30 years ago had configurable date formats.

    • You can't? That's annoying.

I somewhat recently bought a DWB5600G-7, and while it has a negative display and is hard to read (but not as bad as some), some of the reason I bought was because the app let me change the date format to our date format. It's a bit of a bummer that this one can't do that.

      • +1

Hopefully a future app update will add that basic feature.

I'd like to see dates in the format DD-mmm as an option as well (there's plenty of room on the display).

        • Yeah i just bought and received the watch, it’s great but i find the date format to be a bit of a pain. I might waste 5 minutes of my life opening a super ticket or feedback or something to them to implement this feature.

I haven’t installed the app yet. It requires almost every privacy permission there is. Eugh i normally avoid but i want to play with the fitness features so i might have to install it.

          • @GeneralSkunk: Just went through the same thing, wasn't even sure which app to install.

            • @BaryGusey: Oh yeah, is it useful? The reviews are pretty bad. But sometimes apps might be ok, just people tend to leave a bad review.

I’m not sure if the fitness features can be used on the watch without the app. I want to use it while running.

              • +2

@GeneralSkunk: I have the "move" app installed, but mostly it has been irritating so far.

Have blocked a bunch of notification types, tried to set it to vibrate only, and it does not seem to respect the phone being in do not disturb mode but have just found a "sleep" setting. Probably going to have to try it for yourself I think. I have a garmin fenix 5 that I am very happy with other than the charging, it's so much work to get a charger to connect properly after years of use but it has the right level of smart features for what I want. Basically got this because of the display, and battery life.

With the garmin watches I think it is the contact pins that just get affected by sweat and so on, and in my case probably chlorine. Cleaning with isopropyl and then fiddling with the angle and propping it up just right gets it charged, just annoying to do once a month.

The MIP display is the biggest selling point, but not solar powered is the only deal breaker.

  • +2

Thaaat is a good price. Man. Why can't they do a MIP display on a slightly smaller square?

    • +2

they did, but they added stupid fitness tracking hardware into it making it super thick. seriously all anyone wants is the display on the square size.its the DW-H5600-1JR

      • Oh. Yeah. The one that leaves an imprint on your wrist.

        That's a hard pass.

And that's exactly the thing, offer something 'normal', but with a MIP display. Don't try to do something tricky. Do a G-Shock with a MIP display.

  • need solar

  • Pitched as a fitness watch, but you need to have your phone on you (or at least within BT range) to use many/most of the features. Have I read that correctly?

"Access your smartphone GPS via Bluetooth® for precision accelerometer measurement."

    • but you need to have your phone on you

What.. don't you all have a phone.? 😏😏

      • +3

        Not when I'm fitness-ing 💁🏽‍♂️

  • Great price. Have this one and it one of the better looking g-shock out there

  • I use this watch for step counting, all of the other features are way too difficult to use with the button setup. It's a good looking watch and super robust, but the app and controls are terrible.

  • +2

Damnit. Purchased. I hate you know.

  • I like this style, design, colour and display
(because I like analogue + digital combination).

I wish these sort of designs, have tide and moon phase.

( My current Baby-G has that information display,
but I prefer the black design and white-on-black display )

      • Getting cheaper…
        …but I just bought another
        G-Shock model, yesterday.

        • It's a new seller with no feedback. Looks a bit risky -

          Seller - lizhenjie

  • It'd be cool if the stopwatch could do more than seconds.

  • How bad is the battery?

Watched Youtube review, 1 year battery life if you constantly use Bluetooth connected with your phone. That's a bummer.

  • Great price for the GBD-200-1DR! I had it on my 3 camels alert as well. However, I spent most of last night tossing up between this and the GBX100NS-1D (also on sale at Amazon, but significantly more than the GBD). Ended up going for the GBX as I prefer the look of it for some reason. Time will tell whether I will regret my decision. Have read the GBX metal bezel does get scratched up more easily than the resin bezel of the GBD.

    • GBX100NS-1D
Thats look very similar wirh this on thr post what made you picked that?

  • Any way to adjust alarm volume in settings? Pretty lack lustre out of the box.

    • You bought it?

    • Mine arrived this arvo. And I can't see an option for that. At least you can use vibration with the alarm though, which might help a bit.

Also down to $134.22 now. LOL.

    • @mr fox: I received mine this arvo as well. I just set the time and haven’t looked into it yet Alarm etc. Have you checked if this is authentic or not? Based on Google search the back of watch should have the model No and the serial No engraved. Mine doesn’t have it ;(

      • +1

Two checks without having to compare to a known fake or real unit:
Can you get into the diagnotic menu?
Does it connect to the Casio Move app?
If either of these works you're good.

        • Thanks for the link mate. No, none of those menu options are available. Have requested for the refund on Amazon.

          • +1

@FUZHA: Mine connects to the Move app and can also access the hidden menu but it took me a few goes, hold in A then hold in C and then hold in D. I think I did it all too fast the first few times. Recieved mine on Monday.

            • +1

@BaryGusey: Yeah I think you don't press them simultaneously but quickly one by one.. Took me a few goes to get the diags up. Wasn't concerned as mine connected to the app (at least once so I could set the time and my personal details. Have now deleted the app and set the watch into airplane mode). I did want to check my battery level.

              • @Limbot: Pressing A for on mine just turns on light. Anyway, I’ve raised return request on Amazon. Thanks anways @BaryGusey and @Limbot. Never expected I’d end up with dud on an Amazon purchase.

                • @FUZHA: Got a picture of the counterfeit unit? Was this through the Amazon shop or the Chinese shop?

                  • @Limbot: @Limbot here are few pics

                    Front
                    Back

                    • @FUZHA: Back looks different to mine.

                    • @FUZHA: Wowsers !!!!!!! Very poor form from Amazon (assuming you bought through Amazon). At least should be easy to get a refund because it's clearly a very poor counterfeit. Even the model number on the back doesn't come up with a match on the interwebz.

                      • @Limbot: Yeah, bought it through Amazon of course. Frankly, I was also bewildered when I couldn’t find the actual model number on the back. Then digging further just confirmed that its a counterfeit.

It's getting even cheaper. Now $136.21.

    Disappeared!

    $133.01 now
    Pays to wait?
