ShopBack Transactions Keep Coming up as "Calculating"

I have noticed that alot of my transactions on Shopback tracks, but there's not figure for the cashback, it just says "calculating". Just worried that these will be stuck like this all the time.

Are you guys seeing this. It appears to happen for eBay and Amazon orders.

  • Yes, saw it on recent ebay orders. Amazon order didn't track (how long does it take to track?)

IME that means $0. Are the items in categories that you were expecting to earn cashback on?

    • Yes, I'm expecting a cash back, otherwise I wouldn't even go through shopback, I will just buy it directly.

      • The "calculating" changed to $0 and the cashback was confirmed, not rejected. For me, I'm guessing the cashback would have been less than a cent, so shopback shows "calculating".

  • @Muzeeb — this is your cue…

Happened to my Kirin purchase. It tracked after a week of 'calculating'.

Yes, happened to my recent Myer purchase too. Upon lodging an inquiry, they just came back and said it's been rejected since my order wasn't complete. Funny thing is by the time they replied, I had all of my items delivered and sitting with me.

    • Same here, on an order of +$600 the order didn’t track (first time this has occurred with Myer and one of my larger Cashback transactions) they said it didn’t complete, I replied with invoices and all then they said Myer won’t pay Cashback as it didn’t go through their Cashback site, I used the ShopBack app, then I complained again and they offered $10 credit. All sounded very dodgy as I’m a very seasoned user of ShopBack/cashrewards. Next time I will just buy discounted gift cards, at least it’s guaranteed.

      • @Iwantthebestprice I'm super nervy about this happening to me too. I bought a 600 watch through the shopback app and followed all steps such as adding to cart and completing purchase through the app.

Now that the watch is delivered, and the cashback didn't track - I had to lodge a 'cashback didn't track' ticket in shopback. Now it says "calculating" - waiting for Myer to confirm the purchase. However, the date is like 120 days away so I don't want to risk keeping it past the refund window as I'd rather just refund it if Shopback is super dodgy with these myer 'not tracked' / 'calculating' statuses.

Sounds like it's a common occurrence for myer. Support has been no help.

It happened to me again since I made this comment! Cashrewards had a 17% cashback completed a $500 order and did not track again! I sent my invoice through and it now shows in my click history but only as “calculating” and same as you now just need to wait to see if it pays. I almost feel like they make you wait the 120 days so it’s impossible for you to return.

My workplace has a site where I can get discounted gift cards (between 6 to 10%) so from now on I will just use the gift cards and save the hassle again..

          • @Iwantthebestprice: @Iwantthebestprice so will you wait it out or just refund? I'm pretty bummed by it and will be avoiding shopback specifically whenever possible as a result.

  • on a separate note, how do we ask them if they would do a one day only store special? [eg like cashback had LG Au 8% for a short time]

  • My orders from amazon tracked initially but changed to calculating sometime after. Only noticed when checking if a bonus came through.
Looks like it happened on orders paid with gift cards and they did add that as an exclusion sometime.

    • @8azinga fairly commonly stated and mentioned that gift cards nullify cashbacks.

      • Gift card payments were allowed previously for Amazon and ebay. Seems shopback changed it around April? It always tracked and confirmed cashback before that when paid with gift cards.
I think cashrewards and Topcashback still allow oayment with giftcards.

        • Oh I see - good to know.

    • My exact experience with this order from that deal.
I specifically bought a 0% category (Beauty) to see how things go these days as the new GYB handler is… lets just say doesn’t spell confidence.
So it originally tracked showing like $0.35 from a $39 (which means 0.0089%) and I think this was the way ShopBack allows “0%” categories to still reward bank bonuses as promised by the previous GYB, hence my comment reporting back in the link above. Just yesterday i checked it again, base showing Calculating instead of $0.35 eventho the bank bonus was still showing original amount ($9.xx)

Depends if this gets paid out, i think i will steer clear off SB from now on too, esp for Amazon and eBay deals. 2024 has really been a bad year for SB thus far, keep declining in quality especially customer service side of things.
