    PRICE in title

  • +1

Pay out remainder of purchase price if you cancel early.

    • Would the cancellation fee be based on the original price?

      • +1

Don't know - don't want to test it.

      • Total
        $17.67 per month
Minimum cost $831.18. Includes device payments over 24 months and one month of your chosen plan fees.

        Huh?

      • Yes, plus 1 month plan fee.

what most miss is the phone prices these days are subsidized by the cost of the Sim…most of us are on $10-15 Sim only plans these days here 🤣

    • +1

These days? Whenever was that different?

    • +4

I wouldn't be surprised if over half are on $2 monthly simping and burning through free boost sims

      • we are…my username definately checks out boiz

I pay $90 per year to Catch for 60Gb. Never use anywhere near all the data.

Went to Optus and tries to get cheap phone on discounted plan …answer was normal price plan and cheap phone or cheap plan not both

  • +2

It was almost a deal when i read the first part of the title… Google Pixel 8a $424 (1/2 Price)…

then I read the rest xD

  • +1

I mean is it REALLY half price?

It’s like saying %80 off your entire home purchase if you sign up to paying the rest through our bank…

Equal plans without a phone are cheaper per month so the difference X however it takes the pay = more than the original purchase plan.

They are giving you a loan mate…

    • Thats capitalism for ya !

      • Thats capitalism for ya !

And isn't it great that you have the choice. You can choose this offer, or choose to spend your money elsewhere. Or if you think you can do a better job you can even start your own telco. Thank you capitalism for making life so good!

    So its not really halfprice.

Cheapest plan is $49 per month for 24 months.
$17.67 per month for the phone so total of $66.67 per month for 2 years which is $1600.

      • +18

Because you can get the same amount of data for $15 per month elsewhere.
You can purchase the phone outright for $850 from any retailer so you will pay a total of $1210 instead of $1600 and not be locked into a contract.
        Saving of $390

asked for a hero and got one, thanks @Squirmy Squid

      • Now explain WHY you think it's a bad deal

I mean, it was so obvious that it shouldn't need an explanation but here you go:

        Phone from Google: 850.
Annual SIM with more data than I could ever use: $150 x 2 years

        Total: 1150.

      • this neg was easy

Only reason I can think of is Optus Sport at a discounted rate.

      • Yep, my only reason.

  • In case anyone is looking for a replacement phone… Just had an online chat with Optus, the agent agreed to add the phone on the discounted rate on my existing Optus postpaid plan…

    • +1

Meaning you were already paying too much?

  • +3

    Good phone. Bad optus.

  • Even free is still too much.

  • This would be a deal is if it were free given the price of the plans. Otherwise too much.

  • Before criticising the Optus plan prices, I think it's important to mention that the speed is uncapped, unlike the cheap MVNO's everyone is comparing it with.

  • i thought harvey norman is doing the 24 month and free pixel 8a + $200 gift card

  • do people still sign up for 2 year phone contracts, lol, especially with Satan's favourite phone carrier
