You can actually buy a WAVLINK AC3200 Quantum DAX/WL-WN538A8 for $55.49 from Amazon for less (when delivery taken into account).

    1GB flash

Dual band only though, but I would honestly stump up the extra money and buy a Wifi 6 router these days. They are not expensive.

Would these be good for a wireless access point with OPNsense/pfsense router?

I'm using an old Telstra VDSL modem with DHCP turned off, but it is somehow causing trouble with some Android and Windows devices saying there is no internet connection.

      • you might only have a configuration problem. There's some guides online https://forums.overclockers.com.au/threads/guide-use-a-telst… talking about how to configure the Gen2 modems. They are known to be rather iffy but lots of people still use them since they are really cheap on secondhand marketplaces.

        • Thanks! That's the model.

Get an omada access point. They are rock solid

  • just another way to fill the CEO's pockets.

    • Is that true?

Executive staff at Australia's largest charities are well compensated, with the average CEO of large Australian not-for-profits being paid approximately $350,000

But is it a bargain? I don't care how much Jack Ma makes if I can get $3 TWS earphones.

    https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/wavlink/wavlink_wl-wn533a8_qu…

    It's the WL-WN533A8.

    A somewhat uncommon radio setup.

    WIFI:
    - 1x MT7615DN (2x 2x2:2) 2.4GHz and 5GHz DBDC
    - 1x MT7615NE (4x4:4) 5GHz

Even more confusingly, the FCC filing mentions that the Quantum T6, T8, T10, T12, D4, D4C, D6, D6Q are identical. Additionally, the internal photos appear to show the radios mounted as two mPCIE cards. (Is it just me or are these modules missing RF shields…)

Would recommend either going to the latest stock firmware or (I would prefer) OpenWrt if running this long-term, given that some of the older units appear to have shipped with the infamous Wavlink backdoor page intact.
