Shipping is the killer here :(

  • Do USB powerered laptop coolers produce any significant temperature drop? I've got a few, including the fanciest and best reviewed I could find at the time- a Zalman- and the results are inconclusive to say the least.

    • I always thought these were more for comfort, I.e not burning your lap with a hot running laptop, which by definition means it has inadequate cooling, if a proper cooler with heatpipes can't remove the heat this has buckleys chance, bottom line, it moves more air, but does it remove heat?

      • My laptop doesn't have an air intake where the air is supposed to be blown in by the cooler. The air intake is actually via the side of the laptop (and similarly Macbooks 13s also take in air through the side which means that having a fan on the underside of the chassis really does nothing.

On other laptops, the air intake is on the bottom, but not directly in the center of the machine., meaning that the blown air doesn't go directly into the vent.

        • So would your temps go lower if this cooler was placed directly in front of the air intake? Might as well get a simple fan, wire it up to a usb plug and gaffa tape it to your laptop intake directly! Like I said before, I think it's more for comfort, whether it's due to the fan or because there is a piece of plastic inbetween your lap and laptop I'll let you decide

    • I dare say if you have a high end laptop and are gaming for a few hours you will see an improvement in temps

    • I have a Belkin one of these and I find it does cool the bottom of the laptop down a bit. Cant run games like Guitar Hero or Hitman without it, laptop would just shut down :(

I have one of these. All temperature readings on my laptop remain unchanged when using it. So I can only conclude it is next to useless.

    • Have this model and reached that conclusion.
Its well built enough, just cant see any difference and doubt the core of the CPU is being effected in any way whatever by air blowing around the case.
      All show, no go.

Yes got one of these during the 100% cashback deal logitech ran a few years back.. totally useless for cooling the laptop … mildly useful as platform for your laptop, but honestly not that great.

It was OK for free though :)

I'm still using mine which I got for free courtesy of http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38616

      I love this product

    • Same here ie got it along with some mice via the special promotion. Don't use the thing all that often, and I'd agree it doesn't really keep the laptop much cooler, but it is good when lying on the bed as it helps direct the heat away from the bits you don't want to be toasted.

  • Mine works but mines a diff brand and from china ….Called Deep Cool. Works so well n they stopped selling them from taobao cost me like $10 n is USB powered. Has 2 clips at the front to stop the laptop sliding and 2 stand heights at the back to adjust the Height. Been using it for around 2 and a half years with no issues. It's just one big fan. So maybe if ur gonna buy one I would suggest deep cool branded :)

It's handy because it keeps the base of the laptop off the surface allowing more airflow around the chassis. Particularly handy for ultra books since the chassis itself is the heatsink.

  • Thanks OP for the post.
This deal is selling ok right now as the freight cost the same when you purchase more than 1 (our current most popular purchase qty = 3), or if you purchase something else on our site. Might want to take a look at our other products on the same easter promotion

  • I have one of these and it's all but useless. Doesn't do much for my XPS at all.
I also have a cheap one from ebay and it does a good job. Massive temp reduction. I just disabled the tacky LEDs.
